it\'s not active yet so there isn\'t a link but here is a decent sized pic.
any feedback is welcome as always guys. :)

there isn\'t as much shine from the metalics as it\'s all dullcoted due to it being a commision and the possibility of it being handled by others.

Excellent job.
I was looking at that same mini a few days ago, wondering how I could get it under the mrs anti-mini-radar.
The red is very well done, it has a great deal of luminence.
I would like some close ups but what I can see looks very good.
Acrylics or oils?

thanks guys :)

it was all done with acrylics using the juice technique (finaly got the hang of it)

the snow was pva and micro ballons.
after the first layer i loaded my brush with water and thinned down areas where i wanted the ground to show through to try and give it that fresh snow cover/icy feel to the ground.
once dry i then made a realy thick mix and built up areas were i wanted the snow to be thicker/fluffier.

the metals were done by mixing in an apropriate colour to the metalics as well as metal medium and then adding metal medium for the highlighting.
then glazes for the shading.

the red was a dark red/dwarf flesh mix as the base coat and then dark red glazes and blue added to it for shading with black then added for the extra contrast and depth.

stuck this one out for 40 hours instead of getting bored and rushing it.
and thanks again to lono for the brutal honesty about my metals and contrast as it realy has helped mate.
i go back to the mini a day later and tweek highlights and shadows now and just that little bit of extra work realy makes a differance.

thanks again guys :)

I think you need to push the contrast on the face more and the hair loks rather flat to me, on the other hand I adore that red colour, soooooo rich:D

Wow, that cloak is gorgeous  I agree about the face, and maybe the fur could have some more texture, but all together it\'s amazing. So smooth...

Good stuff! I agree about the hair looking a bit flat, but otherwise I really like this.

What exactly is the \"juice technique\"? I have seen that mentioned a couple of times now...

It\'s very, very watered down washes over a white under coat used to basecoat and shade, and then the highlights are painted as normal.

Juices are basically glazes, but only on specific areas.

Ainu: They can be used to highlight aswell, not just shade.

Specific areas? As far as I know, they work for every area.

When it\'s highlighting, it\'s just very watered down, so I didn\'t know if that counted as a juice or not ???

Excellent work chief the base is a real inspiration as per our earlier conversations..
If I was gonna cast any criicism it would be to just add a few more highlights to the face to just pop th features out a touch more but that\'s a minor thing overall beautiful bit of work..

Specific areas as in just a certain bit, i.e. a fold on a cloak, and not the whole cloak.

Just basically quoting what I read on Oz painters. I had always called them glazes before hand.

But the model...very nice, once again the base is outstanding. And those reds are fantastic. Just the hair needs a bit of work, needs more of a reflective ring.

Hey G.p., great job, looks like a lovely model. as said, many times now, the red is fantastic, face isn\'t a problem for me, I like how it\'s a little understated, but the wolf pelt over the shoulders needs a little something more to get the fur texture on the go.
One more thing, by no means a critism, just an observation, in the rear view photo, did the base not make anyone else think of Christmas pud with single cream?:D Feeling festive XX shopping days till Cristmas shoppers:rolleyes:

This is quality stuff chap. As has been mentioned, a little more pop in the face and hair would be the perfect finishing touch, but beyond that it\'s groovy as hell. I\'m digging the natural and gritty vibe, the reds are absolutely superb and rich, and the wolf cloak\'s very realistic looking too.

And yeah, it\'s a good base also. Is it a frozen river at the front? It\'s a little tricky to spot without a slightly more top down view.

And mmmm Christmas Pudding! My Dad makes the most kick ass puds and does primo brandy butter and hot punch sauce. Something very appealing about a desert that can get you pretty pissed!
