A Host worthy of the Gods!

The more the merrier! I don\'t need to paint the ones they gave me, but it\'ll be good to get the experience in, so I\'m going to paint away!

I decided to take a break from painting bloodletters for a bit and start working on my juggernaught for my herald. I\'m slowly but surely adding thin layers for a nice, solid basecoat!

Here\'s a quick question for anyone who reads: I\'m looking at doing progressive (smooth) highlights and shading for the red portions of the armor. Should I go from the recesses to the tips or from where the natural highlights and shadows would be?

I\'m just a little hesitant because the angles on this beastie are a little different than what I\'m used to. Any comments would be excellent!

Hey, loving the flamers. The blending is fantastic on them, just a shame that that little barsteward had to go and ruin your work. Still, you got them back ;)

Your bloodletters look really cool. I can\'t see any mould lines on them, all i can see if the gap between the face and the \"headfin\" bit, which I know is a pain in the aris to get rid of. God knows why they made the heads in two parts... I bought some for the national painting competition back in May I think it was, so I feel your pain. Pics on warseer if your interested.

The jugger looks promising. Unfortunately I can\'t help with your question, but this article helped me before quite a bit. There is a bit on plain red armour, and the article is about a Juggernaut too:

Thanks for the compliment :) and for the article. I forgot all about that article after I read it a few months ago. Thanks for the refresher!

As a piece for an army, I say go with edges inwards highlighting, as this will look good from any angle. Painting for display, \'natural\' highlighting loks good, but usually only from the one angle.

I love juggers, and this is gonna be a god one, I can feel it in me bones.

Well I got some done on the herald\'s juggernaught tonight. I worked on its red plate armor; I think the shading and the highlights turned out pretty good. I may go for one extreme edge highlight on the edges. Then I\'ll work on the scuffs tomorrow where the metal\'s been torn or chopped into.

Any C and C is greatly appreciated!

I did a little more on the highlights and shading this morning before I woke up.

I also started painting all the metallic bits a brown-green color because they\'ll be painted bronze once it\'s all prepped. I found that if I have a color like that in the back, it gives the metallics more depth.

I think this may be all for tonight; I have a formal dinner to go to tonight with the potential fiance. Time to put the brush down....

Well I worked on more of the blending and shading of the red armor portions of the guy. I also started putting the bronze coats on the pnuematic portions of the juggernaut. Here\'s what he looks like so far, but he\'s far from done:

As always, C &C is appreciated.

The yellow stuff is sticky-tack (used for putting pictures and stuff up on walls with out marring the surface) since he wouldn\'t sit upright without falling over.

The white dot is a skull with a spike in it that needs to be painted yet. lol

Well thank my lucky stars, I took my second LSAT today and I just have to make it through Thursday when I can finally sit down and paint. I\'ll be done with final exams and papers by the 11th and then look out! I\'m going to finish this army up fast and very nicely! I want to have it done by the end of my January term when table top gaming picks up in high gear around here.

Anyways, I had a question for anyone reading this. How do you like the idea of a snowbase for the daemons? I think it\'d look pretty impressive with their bright colors and a few patches of powder here and there. As always C & C is greatly appreaciated.

I finished up school for the semester and now I have some downtime before the J-term starts. I made some more progress on my Juggernaught in the last few days. I just need to finish up a little more on the armor, some highlights on the metal pneumatics. Then I just need to polish off the rider and the base, which will be a treat in itself.

I got to play two games with the army so far and I\'m enjoying it. My goal is to have my 1500 pt army all painted, based, and possibly have a display board to sit on magnetically all before my J-term is done (ending on the start of February). So I\'m looking to get these guys done!

Here are the units I have in the army and would like to finish before my own deadline:

Hearld of Khorne
Hearld of Nurgle (BSB)

Unit of 15 Bloodletters (Most of them painted, all need to be based)
Unit of 15 Plaguebearers (Only a handful painted, need to buy more, all need to be based)
Unit of 12 Horrors (All need to be painted and based)

Unit of Flamers (Stolen from me at some point, need to be repainted and based)

2 Units of 5 fleshhounds, including Karanak (All need to be painted and based)

I\'ll get pics up when I can; I currently am at my parent house, but I could use my parents\' camera!

Have a good one!

I\'m not quite sure what display board I\'m thinking of, but maybe some daemonic ruins of some sort (sacrificial altar?).

Wow.... I really need to update this! I WILL be posting pics tonight on this darn thing though; I\'ve just gotten behind due to work and classes.

I have a final draft of my 1500 pt army list:

Command/ Heros
Herald of Khorne (General)
Juggernaught of Khorne
*Armour of Khorne*
Pts:165

Herald of Nurgle (Battle Standard Bearer)
Palanquin
*Banner of Sundering*
*Noxious Vapors*
Pts:240

Core
Unit of Khorne Bloodletters (16)
Blood Reaper (Unit Champion)
pts:222

Unit of Plaguebearers (16)
Plague Ridden (Unit Champion)
*Banner of Seeping Decay*
pts:247

Furies (10)
pts:120

Special
Unit of Flesh Hounds of Khorne (5)
pts:175

Seekers of Slaanesh(5)
Unit Champ
*Siren Standard*
pts:157

Rare
Flamers of Tzeentch (5)
pts: 175

total points: 1501 (Close enough, but could remove a model if playing under strict regulations)

Here\'s what I\'ve done:

Assembled all:
Plague bearers
Bloodletters
Fleshounds (although I may be switching to the WOC warhounds, I like the models that much better than the \"lizard\" ones)
Khorne Herald on Jugger
Nurgle Herald on Palanquin
Furies (Except for a few wings)

Need to be assembled/ even acquired: SEEKERS! I need to find these or some good substitutes!

Bloodletters are nearly completed. Yes, almost done! The Khorne Herald just needs to have the rider all painted up, but the jugger is all done and so it the base.

Here\'s a quick snippet of the \'letters:

Rather than going with the \"norm\" of painting the horns black/grey, I rather like the uniform look of the reds. It makes them look more ethereal and daemonic. I also have some Tamyia Red Clear light gloss on the way so I can give these boys the glistening blood sheen I envision them to have.

All in all, I just need to paint my rear off, and I still have time!

My \"deadline\" is:
February 7th

Here goes nothing!
