Yeah, I have no idea why it hasn't hit me... I think I'll have to test it. I is definitely a tempting idea.

"I like number 3 as the shape reminds me of a wolves head. "

I wish I'd thought of that sentence, a lot simpler than trying to use MS Paint :)

I like the idea of the cables being designed/painted to form the teeth, the flexible bits around the waste done vertically to represent teeth, bellybutton nose, boob line for eyes, shoulders for ears with the raggedy edges. Tone down the characters face & paint up the wolf as he's the focal point of the whole army. Fancy source lighting effects from wolf eyes?

Does it have to be symmetrical? I tried to use the profile SW device so that the nose was on one shoulder, upper jaw teeth come down from the shoulder pad rim, ear back under the throat & sweeping up for the other shoulder but would need to work on it on paper to tie it up properly. Appropriate weapon/shield choice might help tie the design in (eg, upper edge of shield has lower wolf jaw teeth?).

Cheers, B.

PS It might have to be one of those (insert fancy correct term here) things where the true design only resolves from one angle (which seeing as most of our work is seen in photos doesn't matter). Involves a furry cloak probably. Scabbard extends back to silhouette tail? Sod the cloak, put in the spiky design fur effects so that the outline carries the effect whilst still giving interesting armour to paint. Weapon held across front pointing toward characters left foot represents front leg of wolf. :)

PS2: Is there something in the game that has the character embodying the spirit of wolfness? You could paint up the wolf relief/silhouette effect in ghostly blue tones, have it reflecting off the armour & scenery to carry off the effect of a 3D wolf ghost/ethereal/spirit enveloping the soldier? Can't be that hard to pull off :D

Sculpted like roman "Muscle armour" breastplates with "embossed" runes? Etc - though I also like the Idea of a wolfs head / skull

To use a very proper internet term: ZOMG@BPI that was a TON of ideas sprouting from one post, I almost got a headache just trying to break apart and decipher the text. :D I was just painfully reminded that I'm not English myself. :D :D

Oops, sorry, didn't realize. I'll try to keep things clearer :)

You'd probably better not go back and read my edits :D

Cheers, B.

@Tercha: The Muscle armor is a wonderful idea, sadly something I have implemented a few times before. I just might use it on my Wolf Guards though.

Don't worry, I like to be reminded of that, makes me want to improve. I still correct my English teachers here so finding something that spins my head is wonderful! :D

@Freak: I didn't recognize that as a Mk.4 at first either, then i saw the Red scorpions captains torso together with the 'normal' ones. I couldn't find that one right now but here's a quick conversion and a twin to the original Mk.4 I made it from:

Just to clutter up your thread Chrome...

anamorphosis

Sculpture only looks correct from one angle - he's a Space Marine from all angles apart from one when he suddenly looks like a wolf or wolfs head
or
Silhouette - shadow cast by sculpture is that of a wolf or wolfs head. Get some spotlight photography in :D or just paint the effect of course.

Searching feels a bit bleak but this guy seems to know what he's doing...

Lots of pavement art seems to represent the technique.

you do a mixture of the 2 and you're onto a winner i reckon. have the cross going over the front (with a wolf icon on the middle) and the cabling under it on the sides

@freak: you mean so that the original cables look like they are almost holding the head in place? or merging with it? Or simply replace the current symbol with a smaller wolf's head/icon?

@BPI: Yeah, that's what I thought you meant. Sounds damn cool, trying to figure out how to implement it... that is one hard nut to crack...

@BPI: just saw your second edit of the 'enthusiasm' post, that is a really cool idea, but I have absolutely no idea on how to manage that without enveloping scenery. :/
