Built up a bit of a base for the pirate Ogre. It will of course use a bit of resin water effects because I'm a child with a brand new toy, I can't stop playing with it.

Flu ... Loving that marine now , let me know how you got that colour the goldy yellow is looking great are you still to weather it.?
His head is looking neat , how are your eyes after painting it , I know my eyes hurt when I do a head like that .Ive resorted to buying some cheapy spectacles to do fine stuff but they kill my eyes if I use them too long.

Terra, I used different mixtures of GW Balor Brown, Army Painter Desert Yellow and Demonic Yellow. And for shading I added some Reaper Burgundy Wine to get some browns in there. Surprisingly my eyes don't hurt after doing faces, doing all the little scratches does it though. And I'll get dirt and grim on it at the end.
Canny, originally I was going to do something like the bow of a boat with a bowsprit and maybe a figurehead. But that was going to be a lot of work, then I saw the same piece (this guy) you saw and I thought that would be much easier. Obviously his is more elaborate, I'll keep mine more simple so no rigging. But I do have a cannonball stack and a barrel of rum for the deck.

Looks great nice free hand there. For future cracks thin your black more and unload your brush, too much paint flowing of it as you pull it across the surface. Have a practice on some primed plasticard to get your cracks smaller. Try to use the 2-3 hairs at the tip for a fine line, every thing takes practice, keep it up.

I think the main reason my scratches are getting worse is because my 8404 is dying. It's no longer holding a point and causing thicker than desired lines. I have new brushes on the way, but they've been sitting literally half a mile away from me at the post office being "sorted" for 8 days now.

Got some stuff in the mail today. My two new brushes were finally delivered and I received these:

Thanks, BAM, I purposely went overboard with the damage on this guy for the story. With the ruined base and his battle worn armor he's the only survivor of a battle and he finds the banner and hold it up proudly.
The marine is about 95% done now, just a few touches here and there. Then comes the most elaborate free hand banner I've attempted, I imagine it will take many hours.

Hey Flu , if your interested I would do a late start in the miniature exchange with you for that forge world Alpha Legion dude , I'm sure I have a really old super rare series one rogue trader era Corvus plastic marine that I could strip and send to you . That is lovely over the top damage you have done here. I like the way you have done the yellow. i haven't done it on this scale but i understand its difficult to get right.

Thanks guys, and Terra I'll have to respectfully turn down your offer for trade, haha. I will use some weathering powders, just have to figure out the right mix of pigments to use.
