EPIC indeed... super shiny it does not seem NMM at all (with that black backdrop, makes it pop even more).
I think the main secret to NMM is placing the highest lights in the correct place, then work with the correct contrasting colours on the right places.... nah.. super easy.... hahahaha
My Arcadia Q minis are serving me as a great NMM practice! Still I think I am far away from this. should practice more.

Thanks a lot, everyone. If any of you get a chance to take a class with Michal or Kirill on NMM do it! I know Michal has one later this month in the Netherlands, I'm sure there will be more.
Maenas: figuring out where the lights and shadows go can sometime take longer than the painting. Definitely the hardest part!
Canny: Go for it, it's just a lot of very tiny lines over and over again with varying mixes of black and ivory, then white as the final highlight. A small bit of yellow near the highlight for some warmth, and a few glazes of whatever your reflections are.
Sicks: you're right, it's practice, practice, practice!
So with that in mind, here's some more practice. This time on an upcoming bust. I've already painted and stripped it a few times already, and it will stripped a few times more until it's where I want it to be. But here is the first end product I'm comfortable with showing:

Thanks for the kind words, everyone. I've been sick for a while so I haven't kept up with the forums or painting. But I'm back in action now. I stripped the main body of the Napoleonic soldier I was working on a while back and got a fresh start on him. So here's where it's at now:

Thanks guys.
Guawol, for the pants I mixed Reaper Leather White with S75 Eclipse Grey and base coated them. Then added more Leather white to the mix in increasing layers. For the belt/shirt I mixed S75 Walnut and Birch for the base coat, then layered up with Birch.
