You know Tammy - when you don\'t know what your talking about, you really should learn to keep your mouth shut...

this GW bashing gets frickin tiresome, does anyone truely believe rackham, privateer press, reaper etc, etc, would be any different if they reached the size of GW. Any company that wishes to be succesfuls number 1 priority has surely got to be its finances, and until recently GW seemed to be getting that right,( in so far as shareholders are concerned)
and i believe anyone who thinks that the death of GW could be anything but a cataclysmic disaster to the hobby is deluding themselves, all i can ever see this leading is a massive decline in popularity and new blood entering the hobby.
i dont really see a vast gulf in price difference between GW and the other leading manufacturers. i still believe GW are producing some of the best sculpts out there. shaggoth, belakor, the beastmen chars( not including khazrak) the new wood elf stuff ,etc, etc.
at the end of the day GW is no longer the small band of enthusiasts from the late 70s through the 80\'s that pretty much made the hobby what it is today, they evolved and were shaped into the vast company it is today and i dont believe any of the other companies about today would be much different.
so for the love of god why this continuing torrent of abuse on the forums to GW.

I\'m more towards the playing aspect of these games, and for one, GW rules sets SUCK!! PP\'s Warmachine, Reaper\'s R.A.G.E. and Mongoose\'s Starship Troopers, are all so much better and more consice than GW\'s systems, it\'s silly. When you can\'t get through a game of GW\'s without getting into multiple arguments with your opponent over rules, but you can play any of the latter 3 I mentioned and have no problems, then something is seriously wrong with the game systems. The damn problem is GW is so ingrained into some people\'s heads that they pretty much refuse to acknowledge that other games exsist and might (in my opinon ARE) be better than GW\'s and the fact that they\'ve already spent so much the the GW crap that they\'re afraid to start up with a new system. I gave up on 40k months ago and I haven\'t had any urges to pick it back up \'cos Warmachine is 100 times more enjoyable AND the models look better than most GW stuff and tend to be more reasonably priced.
And I hope PP doesn\'t get the attitude that GW has, ever. and if they do, then I\'ll probably be on these forms saying how much they suck....

Wouldn\'t we all be just a tad bit sad if GW went under and shut it\'s doors forever tomorrow?

They set the bar that all other companies are now topping with better rules and models, they probably got more people into this hobby then all other venues combined, and who would we all bitch about when they were gone?

Chew on that for awhile.

no, I actually would be very happy.....maybe a few more people would realise that 80% of the other games out there are waaaaaaay better than 40k or WFB.

and really, I don\'t want to bitch about anybody, I would be much happier if I didn\'t have to.
But I can\'t stand what GW is doing (charging way too much for moderate models and writing broken systems. look at Starship Troopers, written by Andy Chambers and a GREAT game.....if he\'d done that a GW I\'d probably still be playing their stuff and not really complaining.....but instead they went and wrote 4th ed, which sucks all to hell and here I am) and I don\'t tend to keep how I feel to myself, so I think something\'s wrong I\'m going to speak out against it.

Just to throw a spanner in Tammy\'s works, at GD 2004 I spoke to one of the Head judges (not mentioning a name) who told me that Vicor\'s entry WOULD have won the sword hands down if it hadn\'t have been DQ\'ed

Why are so many people bashing Tammy? Just because she gave her opinion? She was there when people were painting really wierd painting style. I remember wondering when the yelow spear shafts were about. They were horrible.

the question we should all be asking ourselves is why did this fool resurrect the thread? just to be a tit? maybe.

heh.... throw spanners at me, or bricks, burn me at the stake! lol, funny though, what i aid ealier was also told to me by one of the head judges....says enough about the way they judge these things then, doesn\'t it? Anyways, it\'s just toy soldiers, the fact that this is still being talked about is a bit sad really.... it was 2 years ago for goodness sake!(Ok, I\'m going through a \'I hate toy soldiers phase at the moment)

Wouldn\'t Rivethead be a certain Mr McVey....? Guess he knows better than most what went on when he worked for GW and doesn\'t appreciate stuff that aint right or didn\'t happen.???

hey, I\'m just quoting what I was told by other people who were in Eavy Metal at the time. If it\'s not true, than I profusely apoloize, and take back any comments I have previously made about EM in the old days...

I think you could quote the cure for diabetes, and little wankers like those two would still give you a hard time.

blegh. It\'s not something that bothers me overly. People take this stuff way too seriously. Having said that, i am going through a very cynical phase at the moment, and have totally lost all love for the toy soldier indusry. I know it will be back, but at the moment i\'m hard at work looking for a real job, I\'ve given up on painting, and untill I get the juices flowing again, i\'m not picking up another brush.

What the hell are you talking about?

I think Rivethead is Mr McVey. I guess he just got sick of people talking out of their asses and there\'s a lot of it going on in this thread.

Can\'t say I blame him:rolleyes:

I\'d hoped this had just crawled away and died peacefully.

It should have been left to be forgotten about.

*sigh*

I agree, but folks should also be allowed to challenge what is said about them, particularly when they have been named.
