The bottom line, is we\'re all playing in GW\'s sandbox, and it\'s their rules, take it or leave it. The Golden Demons are essentually a brilliant marketing technique of getting world class paint jobs to promote their miniatures and game (and make people pay to give them away). And at the end of the day, ultimately the images are just used to fill the pages of their magazine to increase sales.
So when they decide they don\'t want certain imagery to promote their product and fill the pages of their magazine, it\'s their decision. The decision on this piece makes sense to me ever since I saw photos of it leaked after last years GD UK, especially with the power of the Church throughout the world.
I promise you, that if the church caught wind of the piece and it pissed them off, and they made a statement about it, GW would loose WAY more sales than in disqualifying the piece, distancing themselves from it, and maybe pissing off a couple painters, who are mostly likely going to keep buying and painting their product anyway.
So reguardless of how quality a person or artist Victor is (which I don\'t think anyone is really questioning), that is basically irrelevant in the discussion.
And despite all this, I still dream to enter and try to win something at a GD, because despite the flaws, it\'s still as good as it gets in mini painting right now. And the chance of ever getting a purely art-driven and inspired competition at the level of a GD is almost non-existant.
So, take it or leave it, complaining about it falls on deaf ears. The only way to change it is with $$$\'s, and basically to gain enough momentum in convincing people what to do with their $$$\'s that you\'re influence is greater than that of the Church (in this case). And let me be the first to say...that\'s not going to happen.
