I got a packet from Grumb, a Nurgle palanquin but as yet haven\'t had time to put any paint on it, I am hoping to rectify that as soon as I get through this busy shift period.

Oh and I\'m happy to paint if something needs finishing, just check I haven\'t had it yet first :)

I like Trevor\'s idea but I\'m not sure how we would equitably do it.

@Arthur - I haven\'t painted on that dwarf that you have, so if you want to send him my way, I\'ll send you my address.

@Vince - yeah, your dwarf was fairly straight forward and really has blazed through the process. Maybe we have been picking pieces that are too large and complex. I think we did that so there was enough for every painter to participate that wanted to do so. Maybe your approach is the right one, pick smaller, simpler pieces, put more in the rotation, and not everyone will get to paint on every piece.

Like to hear what some of the other participants have to say...especially TAB since she was crazy enough to try to organize this whole thing in the first place... lol

Scott, I think you may be on to something. I chose two large pieces with lots of different areas for paint to maximize the number of painters that could be involved. It would take a while to make the rounds had someone not decided they looked better on his shelf than in circulation.

** Rambling thought of the day **

Something smaller with 5 +/- areas would be done quick enough that it would not be a chore to keep track of, nor would it cost a fortune to ship back and forth around our \"little\" community.

Post it here, first 5 people that sign up for it get a shot at it. Make the list and ship it with it. No more asking \"who\'s next?\"

Then, if you signed up, do it and keep it moving. Don\'t sign unless you have time.

** feel free to critisize/modify my rambling thought. **

Great idea airhead! (don\'t hear that too often)

Someone wants something round-robin painted, just put up a photo and the first x people make up the list, draw the order randomly and mail it off.

I suggest the photo because maybe you don\'t want to paint that particular mini so you wait for the next one.

@ Frenchkid - done, PM sent! ;)

@Airhead - brilliant, I like it!

@Vince - I love the idea of posting a pic of the piece to help folks decide if they want in on that mini.

What do the rest of you think of that proposed new system?

I dunno. I think this is a fun idea that may not be a realistic one, tbh. You\'re simply counting on too many people to not have RL interference...or not to be thieving gits. :)

I\'m guilty of it a bit too, I had the Eldar probably longer than anyone. The problem is that you can be all ready to go when you sign up, but by the time 3-4 people ahead of you have had the models a month or so you have had a lot of things change. That\'s what happened to me. By the time the models got to me I didn\'t have any interest in painting anything, and didn\'t have the nerve to tell people I didn\'t feel like participating anymore...so they sat here for a while.

Darth, I understand exactly where you are coming from. I\'ve put away my painting table for a while. (never forever, I\'ll always come back to painting something.) Thus the idea of smaller/simpler minis that are pre-signed by forum regulars. If you have to bow out, we can repost for another painter to have a go at it. No harm, no foul.

I may get out a piece of lead this weekend and see if I can actually do this. Photo the bare lead (or factory shot would work as well there). Divide up the areas to paint (say 7 for example use only)

skin and face,
pants
shirt (or armor)
boots and leather gear and hair and any other fiddley bits
cloak (freehand?)
weapons (metals ala Tiddico or NMM?)
basing

Post the mini and pic and allow the first 7 posters to sign up and choose a bit. Sort out the bits by normal painting order then start shipping.

If it averages a month to get shipped and painted at each stage (it shouldn\'t, but that seems to be about the norm with us), that means it should be back just after Christmas.

Unless someone can come up with a better suggestion or a more efficient system, i say we give it a try and see what happens.

@Darth - as Airhead said, never be afraid to post that RL has interfered and you need to bow out. Better than to leave evreyone guessing. And as for the theiving Git comment, I think we need to make an example of someone...any suggestions?

Cheers, grumb

I am sorry if my silence brought this along but I must admit I am glad, this project became a chore last year and has not eased up I compare it to chasing rainbows.

Draw backs are that even regulars are unable to meet time hopes and often promises.
When communication is sent mass mailing or individually there is at times rather little response.Trying to organize and communicate this is hit and miss.

Like debt collection experiences when it goes wrong but worse... all you really have here is a email and that is very easily blocked or avoided in response.

I have mailed out some emails so to help with closure and maybe getting things returned to the place they belong.

Here is what I have as to where the minis are thus far.... Let me know if I error please it is a long and winding road.

Dwarf -Vince- Becca and I had a hand on it and it is in a priority box for the todays mail I am mailing it to you then you may forward if you wish ... even this easy of mini is ... not done yet but close.

Ettin....Darth - I have sent a message out again to see if there is a positive result. You all should have a copy of that

Ettin .... Grumb - I had thought that PP and duende were getting it together for a mailing but from his response that is not the situation... am I to guess your ettin is still with Duende?

Nurgle- Itchy- Tim has

Banshee - Trevors - Torifile has not mailed even after conversations will emailed again You all have a copy

Inquisitor- Nathans - Torifile this mini and the above had been packed in one box and sent to her. see above

Giants- Airhead (whom I feel has many great ideas not just this one ) With DJartistknight I emailed as well as airhead I sent msn on and off line. Tried to find a local resident for a pick up. Kev\'s giants I fear are gone as well as a hundred + bucks from my pocket that the person promised to pay for minis I sent in good faith. I am a lolly pop I have his phone in the UK Kev you want it? As a last resort I emailed him again if no answer its yours to call.

Orc- Frenchkid please mail him back to me My addy went out with the copy letter you should have from today

Dwarf- paintingploddy\'s French kid has (right?) going to mail it to Grumb....after Grumb I would be honored to take it here please

I will try to think of helpful input but it is late and after posting and mailing at the same time I have to sleep, Dr\'s appt again , 8 am ...so screwed for time sorry:wow:

Thanks again for all the hard work you put in this Tracy :) And sorry I held on to that orc for so long, I was a bit in the same situation as darth.

The limitation idea works well. I think the one reality is that the whole project comes in fits and starts. There will be a rush of activity, some interest from 2 or 3 new painters. The burst will last a month and then come to a crashing halt - whether enforced by the post or just real life.

Anyway, I don\'t think there is much you can do about the loss of momentum aside from keeping things moving through your hands in a timely manner.

Re the Ettin, I believe Duende still has him. There has been no notification he is on the way. I\'m sure if there is interest within North America he would begin to move quickly.

That ork looks great.
Who did the weapon?

Oh, and in case I was misunderstood, I was not taking a shot at Kev. I just thought it was a funny play on his screenname.

Frenchkid if your right what a great memory you have!

 I dish out sarcasm but sometimes find it tough to locate on the plate.

@Tracy, sorry for stirring the pot up here. I\'m an agitator sometimes... ;) Hope you\'re feeling better!
I\'ll contact Duende (Michelle) and see if she still has my Ettin. I\'ll also let everyone know as soon as I get the dwarf from Arthur.

@Airhead - I hate to say it, but it does seem like your giants may be gone. That guy is in the UK right? Anyone over there we can send to bang on his head...umm...I mean his door?

That Orc is really looking good. Am I remembering right that the orc brothers are currently the oldest RR minis still in circulation.

Again, sorry to kick the hive, but maybe we can get things moving again! :)

Cheers, Grumb

Vince, no harm. I actually laughed about it. After the week I\'ve had, it was kinda nice to even get a left-handed compliment.

You and I have been around long enough to know that the jabs here are mostly the shoulder punches that you give friends. And it would take something much more direct to hurt me at this stage. But thank you for letting everyone else know.

I\'m really just glad that I can have a hand in getting some of this stuff moving again.
