Okay, the scanner REALLY does not pick up the detail for certain. I REALLY need a digital camera. Anyway these are two of 20 that I have going ATM. ANy suggestions? Anything in particular I need to focus on?

Thanks for your time.

Good job

Hey there,
Good work, I like the strong poses, and the style of the musculature. They look quite detailed, and individual. I am looking forward to seeing these in their finished state, as I can\'t really give any comment on what may need improving at this point, because so much will change with more layers. But great so far as a starting point....
Keep it up.... ;) Pete

thanks pete. :)

I had intended to wait a little later in the process to post something but I just got impatient and wanted to make sure I was not repeating any mistakes.;)

cool! much better. the one on the right in particular has a great torso.
what style of person are you trying to portray here?
BTW i\'m not going to pick this one! i want to see how they finish
:D

Well the one on the right is going to be an eastern barbarian type..... I love Asian mythos and fantasy........ The one on the left ..... I am not really sure how to classify but he would fall into the Fantasy warrior set pretty easily.

Thanks for your comments. Very encouraging. :D

So far so good!
You would find life alot easier if you mounted them on corks but it looks as though you\'d need to add more wire to the legs (at least 10mm) to accomodate it. I don\'t know how you have managed to handle them upto now but it\'s going to get alot harder without a base to hold, better to spend 10 or 15 minutes doing that now and make a quicker and easier job of it for yourself in the long run.
They look like really good armatures right now...why not try to drop-mould them yourself and cast up a few to experiment with. It\'s not that difficult to do (if you take your time) and the experience can teach you alot about the fundamentals of figure production, which is essencial to sculpting castable minis.
Can\'t wait to see how they turn out!

Thanks Uncle Hex.

I experimented with the mounted armature thing but found it WAY too restrictive for the way I go about things. The whole time I sculpt I am CONSTANTLY repositioning the limbs to check proportion and such to be sure of symmetry ( which is highly important to me. ) Also I do not plan to pose a fig until I have done the anatomy of the torso, lower legs, and fore arms. With these done I have an easier reference of scale and can just \" fill in the blanks \" as appropriate.

I am sure that with experience my approach may change radically but for now I am getting along fairly well..........

I just realized something..... In those pics you cannot see a length of armature wire extending from the torsowhere the neck is, at least twice the heighth of the figure. That is how I handle them and \" mount them to dry.

I do this because I think the head should be last... Or at least for me that is most comfortable so far.;)

That drop forge thing, is there more info you can provide on that? Like how it is done? I have thought about just doing generic anatomy templates and casting them to have a greater number o ffigs in production and to make things a bit more efficient. However I did not know how to go about it. I thought it was not such a good idea until you said something about it.:D

I will definitely keep a going progress report on my minis. the advice I have gotten here has been too invaluable not to have for future projects.

Again Thanks for the encouragement and advice.:D

Uh it is either 24 or 22 gauge steel picture hanging wire. It is just a hair less than 1 mm thick. I forgot to mention that they each are 30 mm scale.

cool thanks!
i\'m using 16 amp fuse wire. looks to be about the same diameter.

i gotta tell you it\'s easy to critisize (even if you are right!) but when the shoe is on my foot i got to say it\'s a bit tight!
thats my way of saying my attempt is doing poorly :D
my sketching and drawing skills are not helping at all :(

Sorry to hear you think so.... But it might not be as bad as you think it is farseerlum. Remember you are always your own worst critic. But then again you must not let yourself get too comfortable in thinking that it is better than you personally think it is either.......

:~( I have absolutly NO idea where i was headed with this.............

Back to huffing the paint thinner!!:p???:bouncy:

Thanks Tuubje. I am working on it.
