I also have about 100 fish in four different tanks. My sister is living here temporarily (please God) with her German Shepherd, Lab/Border Collie mix, cat, and two ferrets.

Bambi is kind of a funny cat, for many years she would only socialize with my daughter, then about a year ago she decided I was her person, she now sleeps with me, has to have her nightly love fest, with me, and gets Very upset if my husband gets to \"friendly\"

My pet Kai is very mini-friendly:
He sleeps all day, doesn\'t shed fur (and when he sheds skin, I might use that to add some realism to my lizardmen!

Well, Sturm, that\'s a very loaded question.
All traits are natural (particularly in cats which are extrememly resistant to mutation) but a \"breed\" is inherently unnatural - it\'s the result of humans forcing inbreeding. There are no \"natural breeds\"; all breeds that can fit under a name are \"specially bred.\"
The breed you are talking about, the \"Munchkin\", is the result of a naturally occuring mutation. So is the hairlessness of the Sphynx or the colored points of the Siamese or the bent ears of the American Curl, or the taillessness of the Manx, or the curled tail of the Chow dog.
As with all domestic animals, its existence in numbers is the result of people liking it and inbreeding it to reinforce the mutated gene.
The modern German Shepherd dog tends to get serious hip problems because it has been bred for a shape that people like but isn\'t good for walking.
The real question is: is that breed ethical?
Personally I think the Persian is an unethical breed of cat because it has been bred to have a concave nose which leads to extensive respiratory problems. I don\'t know about the Munchkin because there aren\'t enough of them to know the adverse effects of maintaining short legs. However, I suspect it is like the Dachsun dog and will have severe back problems.
To avoid any inbred problems, you are best just getting a mutt (dog) or moggie (cat).

my cat, together with my mum\'s new dog..... Cat\'s called Jabs, he lives in amsterdam, becasue he\'s getting on a bit and I think a flight to the UK would freak him out, and think about it, he\'d have to learn to miauw english all of a sudden, no other cat would understand him!...ok, that was a bit weird...

Thanks Toosh. Harry is currently in good health now after a hefty dose of anti biotics (though he does still have his underlying diseases). The vet said he wouldn\'t put him down whilst he\'s in such good health. Which is great news. BUT. Next time he picks up an infection that knocks him for six I\'m afraid he won\'t be coming home from the vets! His illnesses will make him more and more suseptable to infection and he\'ll find it harder to fight off infection as well without increasing amounts of drugs. Not fair on him and potentially too expensive for my mum (it cost £300 to put him right this time around!).

I believe the munchkin has been outlawed as a breed. At least it has in this country. A cat that can\'t run or climb isn\'t \'natural\'. I doubt it would be fair let that breed out of the house either as it\'s physical flaws would cause it serious problems outdoors. Best to let the breed die out really.

Well here\'s my two goons....
These two are definately \"moggies\". They are two brothers out of the same litter. Their mother and grandmother are owned by my mother-in-law. The grandma cat was found as a stray abondoned on a little island in the middle of a lake. Cruel people who would do such a thing.
Anyway, thier father and grandfather are whatever strays that hung around my MIL\'s house looking for some action. There used to be a Maine Coon breeder that lived nearby, and I think the local strays have some of that since my vet thinks Odin looks like a Maine Coon, but he\'s definately a mix.
