They have lots of humbrols in stock in a local toystore. So if you want I can buy you some and send them to you if you paypal the shipping. But my guess is that there is Humbrol left in UK stores too

I\'m definately going to buy their brightest metals for use in the future.

I was just in a local hobby shop the other day looking at their large selection of Humbrol enamels and remembering back in the day...

Was quite nostalgic really. :drunk:

I used to love the little Humbrol cans. Felt like you were opening up something magical or forbidden when you pried those little lids off. Cleaning brushes with Dio-Sol (no brush licking then :|~ ).

I have not used those in ages - since I switched to acrylics.

Hey don\'t panic! I know our old model shop here in Exeter has (had?) quite a lot of stock for Humbrol. If there are any you desperately need, let me know and I\'ll see if they have it in stock. It would be good to at least have some of your favourite colours to hand - you can use Revel enamels for std colours like black and white etc :)

Let me know Mr Fireman dude ;)

I remember building Airfix planes with my dad... well, watching him build the planes really as I \"wasn\'t doing it right\". I also remember having an obsesison with Harriers but never being able to find one in the shops. Guess I never will now. As for the paints, I never really got any further than splashing grey over everything and struggling with the RAF transfers.

It is a real shame to see them go, I started my miniature painting hobby through Airfix, first with a couple of the planes but more so with the range of 1/72nd scale soldiers, Humbrol paints were a big part of that, this is a double shame for me as Humbrol produces its paints in my home city of Hull so a bit of a double whammy.
I think in the last few years Airfix have been struggling to compete agains the likes of Tamiya and Dragon and other companies that are producing high quality kits, Humbrol too have had to compete with alot of other paint manufacturers.
I shall miss them Humbrol metalcoat for me is one of the best ranges of metalic paints ever produced.

Looks like most of us oldies started with an airfix model aeroplane. Well all good things must come to an end I quess. They will be remembered.

BTW vincenti are you saying all your minis are painted in enamels. Man I couldnt stand waiting for all the bits to dry.

I think I made a few Airfix kits in my time. I know I had this one, I thought it was cool as hell:

Those tinned Humbrol paints were a pain in the ass though. Getting those cans to close properly after a few openings could be a real pain. Worst paint packaging ever.

I always found that (in the older days) Airfix kits were well detailed but had many fit issues and generally were more complicated to build than other companies like Tamiya. I cut my modelling teeth on Tamiya tanks mostly but have built my fair share of Airfix kits as well. I never really had a problem with the Humbrol paint cans, can\'t recall spilling any/many and can\'t recall any ever drying out, mind you I didn\'t own an airbrush back then so never had to pour any out into another container.

I\'m pretty sure it was Airfix who had quite a range of historical minis (20ish years ago), in plastic of course, of which I bought a few. Humm, maybe it was Ertel but I\'m pretty sure they were Airfix.
