I was going to say the same, but I started in about 84 or so with Airfix and Revell kits, and... yes Humbrol enamels. So, you still have a 20+ years\' headstart on me Mike!

Yes, a very sad day indeed, they kept me happy when I was a kid, I remember the saturn 5 model especially and the old spitfires etc

I still use humbrol satin varnish, but will have to find a good alternative. Maybe testors

Oh! the good old days.

What a sad bit of news.

I had tons of Humbrol tins - sorry tinlets and if people think GW paint pots are a pain they havent lived!


First model I can remember painting was the Airfix Walrus

But that got painted in a mixture of Crown buttercup yellow and pale grey household gloss paint which my dad had left over from decorating - took nearly a week to dry

Oh forgot to mention the Walrus was bought for me sometime in the 50\'s - dont remember which year.

Whew! If I keep padding my posts like this I\'ll be in the freak club in time for Xmas.

As Far as I\'m aware the humbrol Paints are going to be released with a new label by there actual maker so all may not be lost...
Similar thread to the Ilyad one this and sadly a sign of the times..Definitely a lesson to all companies out there..Airfix an household name that has been bought by just about every grandad dad son together for years......sad news indeed...
