Sigh *facepalm*
Determining what would be filtered (moved to user areas only) would be at your discretion (and easily stated in the users agreement). we are bringing this up, not to tell you how to operate your website, but offering a suggestion that might make it better. Whether or not you choose to is at your discretion.
And how do you know I'm not already exercising my discretion and simply have a particularly high tolerance as to what I find acceptable? Maybe I just don't like the color red on Fridays or something.... I have a problem with arbitrary decisions made based on how a single person is feeling when there are thousands of interested members of a community, even if those are my feelings. Your suggestion is noted by the myself, the moderators and quite a few community members, but since there are so many cultural backgrounds represented here I would rather default to the "grow a thicker skin" school of censorship than the Disney one. Those that cannot accept it can choose to move on, such as Roy who has asked for his account to be removed.
whats an AT-AT?
...rather something that cut to the core of what we actually are doing and the underlying values in what we portray. I can understand that some will have a problem taking this discussion that serious but for me it asks questions on how I see this hobby in relation to the values I have and thus what subject I will portray in dioramas and paintings.
...............There's a Heresy Miniatures Ghoul that I want to purchase that is an older woman holding up a dead baby. Pretty obvious how it could cause offence/upset & I am at least trying to keep that in mind despite still intending to paint it. It should be horrific & disturbing & if it isn't my brush skills will have to be considered inadequate. I shall still have to pop it into the Gallery on a weekend when I'm feeling strong though.
There's been questions raised here before about whether we should be challenged in our "comfort zone" by the painting of mini's. I say go for it.
I might not like the result BUT equally I might.
Having spent a decade immersered in the world of comics I rather feel I've been through a lot of these arguments before, "Just for children...", "Art versus Craft...", etc.
I agree, just look at the "Preacher" Series and more recently "Kick-Ass". Fluffy-Bunny they ain't.
I wonder how much of a disconnect there is between people who only ever use their models as game pieces & those who produice dioramas? A toy versus sculpture tension that has to be flattened out in order to properly see the artistic landscape & where our hobby sits in it.
A Damn Fine Question and perhaps one that you should propose the discussion on.
PS AT-ATs have always looked stupid. any multi-billion pound weapon that can be brought down by a bloke on a jetbike armed with a bit of string are crapGandalf for the win!
Absolutley Gandalf and a ball of wool, AT-AT would be totally PWND
My girlfriend loves it. so stick that in your pipe Roy, me boy! And yes, she's had that "experience" that concerns you and your close personal friend. She's learned to cope, and most importantly after any traumatic experience, she's moved past it.
CHEERS!
I see people are ignoring your request for information Megface...so:

Hi Avelorn, I sort of bumped into this earlier this year when I painted Vampire Meg. A little girl dressed as a vampire & she's just killed the family dog out on the garden lawn. Is she really a vampire or just taking her imaginary play too far? I did wonder whether I would get any comments from people who were uncomfortable with my mixing children & violence so much. Plus in the UK, furry animals receive more funds through charitable donation than human beings do. I wondered if a slaughtered family pet in my scene might arouse ire. Nothing so far of courseBut it is in my mind & one of the reasons the piece isn't in the Gallery yet.

Now I have an itch to acquire an AT-AT leg to position coming down on Gandalf. The mook having exhausted his repertoire of magic on it, turns out an AT-AT ain't put off by various glowing light configurations shone at it.
