My brother just told me that the IMDB crowd utterly panned it. Ah well, what did I expect really? Hollywood has the reverse Midas touch most of the time, especially with fantasy and sci-fi...
They should have got Joss Whedon to write it, and then left his script 100% undoctored.

I saw it tonight as well...
I felt cheated because of the small amount of Alien vs Predator fighting scenes. Way too much (stupid) \"humans stumbling around in the dark\" stuff. I wanted to see Preds and Aliens going at it! Not some clueless people wandering around going, \"Duuuhh, which way do we go, which way do we go...\"
The fighting scenes that were there were great however. Wish there was more.
I thought the ending was kinda stupid too, but I don\'t want to say anything that gives stuff away....

As soon as Freddy vs. Jason was being advertised I swore I\'d never ever see a movie with \"VS.\" in the title. It is proving to be a very wise decision.

Hated the original \"Alien\" when I saw it at the movies, enjoyed \"AlienS\" Thought Alien3 was complete and utter Crap! (3 months filming at Easington Colliery in the NorthEast of England for less than 10 seconds on screen!) Alien Resurrection was Ok (just!).
Predator Ok, Predator 2 was much better, at least there were people who could act in that movie. (Reuben Blade)
But the 2 together :|~ Save me the effort and pull the chain someone!

I really wish people would say WHAT they hated about it.
I saw it opening night, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It\'s a niche film that, like Godzilla USA, will have many detractors hating it on principal alone.
I read the original script about 8 years ago, which was excellent. The writer pulled, so the studio never made the film. This new script has some of the elements of the original which was appreciated. Sure, there were aspects of it I didn\'t like (short Preds?), but the cool factor to a real Alien/Predator fan is off the chart.
In my opinion, for example, the only one of the 5 Star Wars movies that didn\'t suck was the original (pre-bastardized re-release). Fans support them, though. The same will happen here.

They really are picking the last festering morsels from the rotting cadaver of this franchise..... Everyone complained about Alien3, so they went and made the monstrosity that was Alien Resurrection. What a truly awful movie. The series spiralled to the depths with an awful storyline and some absolutely tragic special effects. It was an uber-budget B movie of epic proportions. I can forgive things that are produced on a shoestring, but it was a joke. T3 followed in much the same way, being almost a parody of the previous films. Why is it not possible for these studios to invest in something new??

I like big action sequel eye buzzing crap. I liked all the Starwars, all the Aliens, all the Terminators. I liked Godzilla etc. I liked Dracula, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. I liked the disaster/meteor crap for the most part. I totally loved Dawn of the Dead.
This movie blows on all levels.
There is no tension, because there is never any plausible build up to anyone getting whacked.
There is no feeling of triumph because all the characters are COMPLETELY ONE DIMENSIONAL.
The characters could have had their personalities generated with an online NPC character generator.
\"Eccentric Rich Guy seeking last minute mark on history\"
\"Bumbling lovable [chemical engineer]\" (That never ONCE says anything remotely engineer like.
\"Tough bodyguard.\"
Tell me ONE line from the movie that is memorable.
The big take away line seemed to be
\"The enemy of my enemy is my friend.\"
LOL. It would have been better if it said
\"A sea anemone enema is your friend.\"
At least it would have been funny.
It sucked like a chest wound. Starts out bad and just gets worse.

You forgot something...
All your complaining is about the human characters in it. Yes, they were one-dimensional, and there was hardly any character develpoment before they were nicely dead.
However, the best parts of this movie included scenes that had no humans (or maybe just the one) and no weak dialogue. And that was the fight scenes between the Predator and Aliens!
They were Great! Just not enough. The movie\'s called Alien Vs Predator, after all. There was too much focus on the stupid human\'s crap.

I got pretty much the same impression of this film that I got when I saw \"Dungeons and Dragons\" a few years ago. It is a film that appears to be made by people who didn\'t really care about the source material. As a result, the movie has a lousy story and is missing a lot of what made the original movies great. I just don\'t get how the movie came out that bad considering all of the comics, books and games that have been done with these characters, all of which had better stories.

Isn\'t it funny that if you are forearmed that a movie is sucktacular- it doesn\'t seem as bad. You just sit through the blah blah until the cool fight scene you heard about or whatever. So ready and forewarned I go... into the dark
