American craft paints?

A craft shop I regularly visit sells Anita\'s paints. I\'ve bought a few, and they have their uses, but the consistency and transparency can be a problem.
Also, I\'ve recently heard Anita\'s described as \'cheap and nasty\', and a new art and hobby shop stocks Multi paints. I picked up a couple of bottles and they seem to be decent quality.
But I got thinking about the craft paints I\'ve heard mentioned on here, and a couple of quick google searches turned up UK sources for some of them: Apple Barrel, Folk Art, and DecoArt Americana. No Delta Ceramcoat, unfortunately.

I plan to pick up a bottle or two of each, but I\'d like to ask a few opinions and give you a chance to wax lyrical (I know you want to ;)).
How do they compare to eachother? Particularly since Apple Barrel and Folkart seem to be standard and premium brands from a single manufacturer.
Any brands I\'ve missed? Any recommended colours or any to avoid, too?

I haven\'t seen or used the Multi range but at a guess I\'d say they\'re likely to be a touch better than Americana et al, especially if they\'re not super-cheap.

Likely to still have a problem with coverage for the yellows and reds, and probably on some or all of the blues and greens too.

American Craft is alright from my experience, I use their red often instead of my Reaper. I\'d definitely use it on terrain.

One brand I\'ve tried and recommend you avoid like the plague is Craft Smart. Never, never ever use that. It is thin as all heck and often grainy.

Ta!

I\'ll check out the multi paints some more, although it looks like the shop only sells some of the range (chain store with bored young staff = not much chance of requests or orders, maybe); and craft paints from across the English Channel are much more scarce on UK sites than craft paints from across the Atlantic.

E.g. L&B\'s Deco range looks interesting. A few UK sites carry it but all of them have problems. Maybe time to brush up on my French.

Just a correction on my earlier post: I went back to look at my paints and I confused American Craft with another paint, I should have said Americana. Sorry!

Thanks again.

Einion: er... I took \'water soluble\' to mean \'water miscable when wet\', and \'water-resistant\' when it\'s dry. Perils of translation, I think.
