Just an observation...

...but, judging by the recent spurt of threads, if Lurch had just substituted \"GW\" for \"Rackham\" up there in the original post, this thread would be filled with dozens of responses on how the reason for the charge was because GW is evil incarnate and run directly by minor minions of the devil. Instead we get, for the most part, just ways to avoid the charges, etc. Where\'s the outrage at them charging ridiculous amounts for shipping ???

I\'m certainly no GW fanboy, just making an innocent observation :innocent:

Most everything that the Rackham store carries, I can get from my LGS at a substantially lower cost. (Most Rackahm figures cost me anywhere from around 5 to 11 bucks at the store). Add to that fact that I amhelping to support my LGS and I really dont see any reason to shop anywhere else.... EXCEPT
Rackham has some mail order only figures, and conversion kits that do not go through any distributors. Supposedly the Rackham store is the only place you can get them. The figure I bought was a conversion kit for the Dwarven Chariot:

And as I want it for a painting competition on April 1st, I needed it yesterday.

I know the feeling. I was stationed at Kadena Air Base in Okinawa for awhile and I did a temporary assignment duty at K2 Air Base in Korea back in the late 90\'s when I was still in the Air Farce ( and no, that is not misspelled).

@Mosch and some of the others who have garciously offered to buy items for me... THANK YOU.
I sometimes forget I have friends in places who can help me out, and I have done trades with some of them from across the pond.
As I said before, I\'d rather give my money to my LGS for the things he can get me, but I will defineitely keep that in mind the next time I need something I cant get in the states.

Interesting point... GW Northern Europe sends in-shop mail order to the Copenhagen GW store for free if I buy for more than 125 Danish kroner...say 20 bucks. Kudos to GW!

Of course, another suggestion for your problem is cooperative buying.
I know I wouldn\'t possibly have a list big enough to avoid the shipping cost (which is why I\'ve never bought from any European mail order), but maybe if I combined my list with a neighbor\'s we would.
Ask if anyone one CMON wants to join an order, and ask if you can post a note at your LGS asking for someone else wishing to join in. Heck, see if the proprietor of your LGS is willing to stock up on more Rackham and would add your special wish to the list.
