An insane Project Log.

I am actually afraid to go back working on my lead. Some have turned that dark brown, and my old split-shot sinkers make my skin itch when putting them on a fishing line now....

Also Reaper IS doing lead again. One of their lines is a percentage of lead rather than just the other white metals being used today.

Getting everything off its sprue, and any bits not to be used separated would be my first step if I tried this. How much \"white metal\" sprue, flash, and slag can you put up with messing with without stabbing yourself with it or not know what to do with it? lol

why we have lead mountains

the painting gods have decreed no person shall pass the gates of heven till his mountain is finished:D
therefore keeping your mountain fully stock ensures immortalitylol

be good if it were true but this story tells another story.

When I was younger I lived in Cyprus and me and the old man ran the local gaming club. We were contacted by the widow of a famous military modeler (my old man said he was famous I\'m not sure) they had retired to cyprus and he had spent years collecting models and projects to do in his retirement, unfortuatly he had a heart attack one month in and died. His widow wanted to give the models away and we agreed to shift them for her. When we got to the villa there where almost 1000 model kits:eek: many of which where very old.

Moral of this tale do not put off till tomorrow what can be done today

Though for some of us the lead may be LEAD and not pewter/white metal ;):D

To be fair Mike, a sizeable portion of my metal mountain is indeed lead, a mixture of Rackham and old citadel and marauder dwarves ;)

Interestingly enough, so called \"lead free pewter\" does in fact contain lead, the difference being that it is treated so the lead doesn\'t seep out.

Do you have any photos of the original pewter hillock? I\'m curious to see what \"oodles and oodles\" of miniatures looks like.

Not got them, unfortunately. Just old thunderers, warriors, some norse, Imperial. I have some Spearmen I\'m not really using if you\'re interested though...

Slow....like turtle!

Hey hey!

So, yeah, about the WIP....I\'m a grade A-slacker!

BUT...I have really been working on sticking minis together.

In fact, here is my first batch. All, assembled, based, puttied and primered!!! Ready for paint!

Look at all those sad little faces, just begging for more attention.

It\'s amazing how much time we actually spend on a mini before it even gets it\'s first coat of paint....and this is testament to that.

A note on Fiddly miniature parts!

Egads...any one got advice on how to get itsy bitsy wrists to attach to itsy bitsy arms?

I\'m using a superglue accelerator, but it\'s like torture!

Here\'s proof that I\'ve got \'more in the pipe\'.

Thank ye for all your goading and encouragement. It has really helped!! I\'ve stuck together more minis in the last month than I have in the last year! Please keep badgering me!

WHOO HOO!

a few short strokes with a file just to clean the surfaces you are gluing is a good first step, then you should use as little super glue as possible and just to the one facing.
You shouldn\'t need an accelerator since if you use the right amount of glue it should be perfect after a max of ten seconds pressure.
There is always the possibility of pinning everything, but that do require some work and sometimes very small drills and pins.
If you\'re not going to use them for gaming or other \"social\" activities then it\'s just a waste of time on such small models in my opinion

Ah...that may be my problem. I overload the glue.

I will certainly give that a go!

Thanks Chrome, you are shiny!!

Fine Guitar String cut as pins. Bit of a PITA but works.
