Cheers guys! Unfortunately my painting struck a wall with flue insomnia and a bad back so only got into the painting groove this last couple of days so no way squad be done for salute which is a shame. However a bit of work done on the space marine just the base and a bit of tidying up to go quite pleased with this version.

That power armor looks really good. The model as a whole is top notch. Looking at your NMM is really helpful to someone like me who's struggling to learn the technique.

It's a combination of glazing dark brown and also little dots of darker paint close to the hilt and the yellow is painted not stipples I like the control it gives.

Have to ask about light streaks. Making a few on my current project. I first take a detail brush and use a bright highlight color and make a slightly perceptible line. Then I put a couple few glare points on the line with an even brighter white. Then I glaze the base tone over all of it to try to make it look not so drawn on. However, not sure that I am very successful. How do you do your light streaks?

Yeah with the light streaks i just thin down white paint and have only a slightly moist brush so just one step up from dry brushing and put the streak on; then go back over again but not the whole line just say the central two thirds then with slightly thicker white paint put a central dot for the main glint.
With salute i got a couple of finalist certs one for Axenarf and the other for King Conan. Good comp standard and a great day out; on the whole it was well done. If there was one complaint it would be the lighting. It was a bit bad however it is always a problem for these large indoor lit venues. Very deserved win for Sprocket and also for Skeletets. My absolute favourite bit was being stuck in a que for an hour for the free ferry across the thames. 10 balls SatNav the finest North Korean steam powered abbacus technology

Ok, so that initial streak is highly diluted and almost dry brushed on? This makes sense to me, would make it nice and transluscent.

I love the reds and while im not usually a fan of NNM this looks great can't wait to see the finished squad.

Great news I think it will set them off a treat! The good thing about an inset is if it doesn't work out to your liking you can still present the individual minis on a plain plinth.
