i think you should add cold/blue hues lower in the stairs there the banshee is, and warmer/orange where the dwarf is, to tie the base to the minis a bit more.

Absolutely what I am going to do I tried to run the same hues on the shield the blue greens on the bottom part near the banshee red orange oink near the dwarf. So yep to the stone work. This is probably my only entry for GW I think.

Wow I see it's not finished yet, but you went pretty fast!! I also would like to see a nice freehand on her. If not, the dwarf would look with a lot of sculpt details and the bansee maybe would look a bit plain in comparison.
I also like the position of both characters, and what you did with the shield repliyng the cold/hot themes. ^^

Done some work on the base and some free hand on the banshee nearly finished.

Didn't like th base colours redone them and toned down he white on the cloak. Not much done recently work getting in the way.

Not sure how I missed our last post, but everything is looking awesome.

The shift to blue puts the focus on the dwarf, as if he's attacking the banshee in her lair, rather than the other way around.

Definitely think you upped the drama with the cold base. I think with the glazing the freehand also looks much more interesting now. Both decisions worked well, in my opinion!

I liked the brown better....but not for this composion. The Blue looks much better in this vignette. You are really knocking it out of the park.

im am not totally sold on this blue change to be honest, little too blue me thinks. i think you should've tried to do gradient warm orange where the dwarf is, to cold blue like you got now where that undead sucker is. if you have the energy... perhaps something like this...

Andy as a suggestion, could you do it as if there is someone behind the troll slayer with a torch so you haven;'t got to repaint the whole side just add in some orange and yellow OSL ?

That's not a bad idea maybe a dropped torch on the floor next to him.

WGS tried it but it didn't look right as the side of the dwarf needed to be in dark shadow cast by the torch so it would have needed a complete repaint. Excellent idea though and I will be doing it on another dio it's just necessary to do it from the start.

So this is what I produced its the most work I've ever done on a base and frankly I've had enough no more!

Looks really good Andy, the railings help break up the transition and the blue now looks like an ethereal glow from the Banshee. If you can bare to pick it up maybe add a little blue to the bottom two railings to tie them in
