Really nice work sir. I see tons of possibility for freehand designs on his skin and cloth. Any thoughts on such things?

Yep mate I'm using this picture of Ganesh as inspiration although I have veered away from the colour scheme slightly! So tattoo probably in a henna colour on the forehead and trunk also possibly the palm of the hands. The loincloth will have a gold trim with a repeating swirly dotty pattern on it.

Yep gotta no choice in that. Steel and stuff like that can be done tmm and come out a beauty but gold nope got to be nmm.

Ahh hah yes I needed to punctuate and explain properly. I was giving a general over view as I see it of the pros and cons of nmm vs tmm for steel and gold. My bad. I will be nmm ing steel and gold on this mini no tmm at all.

You can get stunning gold with printers inks, also awesome silver. Vallejo's metal medium is a great base to make your metallic colors.

In some respects I agree NMM & TMM can work together.
For example NMM on a Standard with TMM ON THE BODY of the figure.

Yep. I did that on my 25th anniversary finecast space marine. Looked nice, ya know until the finecast banner went limp...

gone with nmm at the moment Milosh as I havent got any printer inks though I feel that is on my Christmas list! So blocked in the steel and the gold and have started glazing the golds on the helmet. Must say Ive never really glazed before to achieve the same effect as layering I am rather taken with it for metallic's.

Moving on quite quick with this one just cant put it down. So gold done and axe head very nearly finished flower started lots of glazes to go on that. thinking of the jungle temple base any suggestions would be welcome

Jungle Temple Ruins base sounds awesome! I did a very quick google search and found these statues:

I bet there are more. You could recast them in plaster and break 'em up or just use as is.

Elephants tend to be from dry, arid plains. Plus it would be a nice juxtaposition with the grey the hide and the vibrant flower. :curl-lip:

I was thinking of water effect maybe some ruined stairs going down to a jungle pool. Hmm got a scibor ruined temple Buddha head somewhere so could incorporate both ideas.

Awesome so far. Just to throw my hat in the ring, i think that a non-ruined temple would look awesome; something to suggest that the creature is worshiped by some local culture perhaps? Some grand pillars with a pool of water/fountain piece, silk drapes and offerings strewn accross the floor with some supplicants cowering before their deity or possibly a hero/heretic coming to challenge the beast.

Either way it's already an awesome piece, so just have fun!
