Red looks fine to me but I'm not an expert in the least at saturation. Seems like what Mike and Ave say is that it's not bold or saturated enough, which would obviously mean that you are desaturating the mid tone or base coat too much by letting your shadows and highlights overtake the mid tone. Make sense? Lately I've been experimenting a bit with this. Sometimes we can show gradations in our painting or change the boldness of our tones simply by adding more layers in certain areas and feathering our paint towards that same area. For instance, let's say I want to shade a beer belly. In the center of the belly I just add 1-3 layers of flesh tone, and paint towards the underside of the belly, adding many more layers here than on the top center of the belly. That way we highlight and shade without even desaturating or mixing the paint at all. Ya dig?
i love your work on this last mini. Maybe in my top 3-5 all time of your work. Not a fan of the all gold Warhammer though. I know, Holy Sigmar and all, but I probably would have painted the grips and accoutrements different colors. Still, Bravo good Sir.
