Had to remind myself the armour was nmm, wickedly good start Andy. yellow would work well in the slashes with red outers

Reds are lovely on this mini, so why not throw us for a loop and go with dark greens?

Hehe...it's very funny seeing your thought process work out precisely as mine did when considering the clothing colors. I originally wanted to do him in a red-violet, but as I painted him I realiEd that Tommie's red really did look make the most sense. But I also did not want to copy him too much. So I ultimately settled for a purple leaning towards red-violet, which I made by basing in a reddish-pink and then glazing over with blue ink. But I do agree that a sort of royal red-violet would be most suiting and this was an early plan I had.

Cheers lads I am going to leave the clothing until the steel is done and have a good hard look on renaissance clothing sites and get a good feel for the period and go for it.

Love the steel, are you sure it's NMM ? Any chance of the recipe ?

Yep Im sure. The recipe is Valejo neutral grey base washed with Army painter dark tone then reapply the grey then highlite 4;1 grey/ white then 3;1 grey white then 2;1 grey white 1;1 grey white 1;2 grey white 1;3 grey white 1;4 grey white. Then dot pure white. Ive not glazed yet but will do towards the end.

Wow, incredible level of mixes and layers. How do you control how much paint you use for each mix ? It seems so precise.

I use a spot well do I put a good blob of grey and another good blob of white in two wells and then just get a dab on a brush too four dabs of the other colour and mix em together in one of the free spot wells a bit of water too thin and bobs your uncle. Repeat with other ratios for the other layers always remembering to thin with water.

Thanks guys nice comments. The key I find is go from black all the way to white you gotta have that zing!
