Another surprise from GW

So slightly off topic - What brushes would people recommend and where in the UK can people purchase them? Plus, what would the sizes equal in other ranges?

One of the big advantages GW have is the ease with which you can locate everything you need, hence why i still use their brushes. I do seem to go through them pretty quickly though as they have a habit of losing their point pretty quickly.

Yep, Rosemary & Co are great value - same price as GW but infinitely better. Really good customer service too. Generally speaking I find sizes 0 to 2 are a good selection to use for most things.

Going back to the GW price hike, I want to echo Demonherald\'s point about why do they have to increase everything by £1??? Why not a percentage? There are smaller denominations GW or do your store staff have trouble with decimals??? Personally, I\'ve turned to ebay and online shopping now for all my purchases and am very happy that I have.

By the way, am I the first to

Granddad!
no, it\'s company policy to only have 1 staff member in a shop as often as possible, (Health & Safety issue?).
So if you do away with the need to go and get change from the bank or any other chore that requires them to leave the premises, the stores stay open
Maybe more staff should sue them after they get injured on the job

The whole GW and price hike issue has been done to death many times in these forums.

As has been said before, GW\'s attitude is that they have a captive clientle who have hooked into their games systems and are utilising sales psychology for all they are worth to generate revenue.
The fact is that their primary target clientle are 12-16 years olds means that their (the customers) discernment on cost implications of prices rises isn\'t going to be the same as we collectors/painters who are outside of their demographic sales target.

Whinging on the forums here isn\'t going to change JackSh*t. If you want to effect changes to their attitude organise legal protests via boycotts of their products or postal letters of complaint to GW\'s headquarters. Similarily investigate and target their investors for complaint. (Or if you really want to cause a ruckus become an investor, buy a serious amount of shares and utilise the stockholder meetings to raise the issue).

But in the end it comes down to this; if you don\'t want to pay the prices don\'t buy the product.

While not wanting to stop people\'s free speach, it seems to me that the needles stuck in this particular record. Hence my repetition of my comment from a previous thread.

Being both of sound mind and body I freely and openly buy GW figures from GW stores (as well as my local store).
I don\'t mind the price and have even refused a discount from my local store because I know his margins aren\'t that great and his overheads are steep.

Ok. Shall I just close the thread? You see, my computer and internet broken down a short while a go, stopping me from seeing what price rises had occured. Blame me for that if you like, but I can\'t help being out of the know when these things happen.

They have put the brushes up hahaha thats a side splitter.

EricJ used GW brushes and paint for pretty much every model in his gallery.

I bet those were \'Master Brushes\' with kolinsky/ red sable hair for about 80 punds per 5 brushes + superhiper wooden case + a brush soap + a special water pot made from a bolter shell! (crap and I thought that bolters were without shells :D - at least this is what GW has in it\'s fluff ) , and not GW crap brushes that they sell for 5 pounds each...(you can get W&N series 7 brushes per 5 pound each LOL)
Their Fine detail brush is size 2 :D

Nope, I just used the standard fine detail off the shelf (and a small drybrush) for everything in my gallery until about March of this year when I switched to W&N mini brushes. Oddly since about that time my scores have been lower....lol

I\'m sorry, Eric, we\'re just not so amazed at your brush control anymore. :p

I find this argument very similar to the standard sniper-complaint reply, that we\'re only painting toy soldiers and that score means nothing at the end of the day.

Unfortunately, people will complain about what affects their passions. If a good score is a passion, a complaint will happen. If a GW army is a passion, a complaint will happen. Passions leave little room for pragmatics.

Sorry, Mike, just respectful disagreement with the put-up-or-ship-out sentiment.

Absolutely not!!

Mike in entitled to his \"this has been done\" position, just as you are entitled to your \"complaining about GW\" opinion. Nothing wrong with that at all.

In Mike\'s defense though, some of the same points get made, and nothing ever seems to change with it. I understand his frustration.

Horses for courses...

Regular, old timers on CMON will have seen this argument so often, but that doesn\'t mean that there aren\'t new members and members who \'have a life\' and don\'t spend all their time on these forums.
Repetition of subjects will generally be self-moderated by the number of responses their threads get.

Yeah so if we\'re fed up with these threads, we shouldn\'t post in them so that they get on top again.

Oh.

As a side note, some of the staff discounts are getting smaller aswell, plastics mainly....

seems GW wants to screw everyone over even the staff lol

yeah, the arguement of \"if you don\'t want to pay so much for the product, then don\'t pay! For those that want to, let them\" can pretty much also be applied to the thread for those who are sick of the topic \"If you don\'t like reading the thread due to the topic, then don\'t read! For those that want to, let them\"

Haha, also convenient that that wraps up my opinion on the 2 topics of this thread :D

My three cents worth

First, I am sick of these threads, but I keep reading them. Like watching people eat gross $hit on Fear Factor, We just can\'t stop looking even though we hate it.

Second, I don\'t think people who run large corporations can possibly be that stupid, so I have to assume that somewhere along the way they have realized the end is in sight, and they are going to bleed as much out of their customers as they can before they tank. American companies do it all the time, on a MUCH larger scale. It a shame, because in most cases said companies can be saved, but it would require pay cuts at the top, which would never happen.

Third, as much as I would love to agree with Mike\'s statement, people unfortunately prefer to whine over actually doing something about it. If it worked that way, Americans would have stopped using their Gov\'t years ago.

And that is why we allow it to use us instead. Complaceny... it will destroy the world someday.

But enough politics, we know GW employees sacrifice unbaptized babies to the dark Gods. lol
