Any other NMM Gold recipe?

Everybody has different ways of blending their own NMM Gold.

For Aliengod3, he use simply Vallejo gold brown and highlight to white;

For Razza, *snakebite *shade terracotta *shade black *highlight snakebite + bleached bone *bleached bone *white *yellow glaze;

For me, *bestial brown + vermin brown *vermin brown *vermin brown + bubonic brown (2:1) *vermin brown + bubonic brown (1:1) *vermin brown + bubonic brown (1:2) *+ sunburst yellow *+bleached bone *bleached bone + white.

Anybody mind to share their own recipe?

I use Walnut brown (very little, just for the deepest parts/lining), Chestnut Gold, Amber Gold and Golden Blond (to white for very small highlights), all Reaper Master Series.

I use this as the basis as well, thanks to Theirry Husser http://www.thminiatures.com
His site has a simple listing/chart in it for Vallejo NMM colours and the Gold is as you describe Aliengod as using.

I have used differing glazes to try to effect slightly differing effects as Gold can have some marked variances (Red Gold for example). I\'ve used Terracotta, on my Dwarf Lord.Here
Burnt Umber on several other miniatures, slight touches of green, not very often, to change the colour cast as well as Snakebite Leather.
Once or twice I\'ve added Golden Yellow to the Gold Brown to give a \"Fresh\" look to the gold, before continuing with White.
Also done the same with Vallejo Ivory to soften the gold.

At the moment I use Snakebite leather and add yellow and bone to the highlights and wash with snakebite leather it it gets to light/to add the shadows back.

I like the sound of that VJ gold brown and white for the bringing it up though so might try that when I get a spare 5 minutes :D

This Vallejo Gold brown seems a nice color to use. I heard some ppl add snakebite leather to the mix. I haven\'t try it yet but seem to be good.

Most of the painters painted a very new NMM Gold. One of the NMM Gold I like is from Eliash. He painted a very old & weather down NMM Gold. I just can\'t figure out how to mix into that effect.

Anybody have any idea how to blend that kind of NMM Old Gold??

Gold in itself doesn\'t tarnish, so the definition as \"Old Gold\" is a bit difficult to explain.
See Here

It looks as if he\'s used a lot of very thin washes of Vallejo German Camoflage Black Brown. But the trouble is it\'s quite a dark picture of a dark piece and without seeing it in Real Life it\'s very hard to Second Guess. Try PM\'ing the painter and ask what he/she used.

It could also be intended to be Brass, which is a differing paint basecolour altogether. (Vallejo Fieldstone a somewhat Greenish-Ochre colour)

Einion: Yes I believe so.

Don\'t think that Terracotta is the only colour that is being used for Glazes.
As I\'ve said I\'ve used and use Snakebite leather, Bestial & Scorched brown, Vallejo Browns and Greens as well as Artists Acrylic Burnt Sienna.

The glaze that you use should in some way reflect a similarity to the rest of the mini. So for example if you are painting an earth toned Mini then using richer browns like Vallejo Leather Brown or Flat Earth may be more suitable than a colour with a distinct Red Hue like Terracotta or Dark Flesh.
Similarly if you want a Rich and warm tone to be predominant then by all means use the Terracotta as that will enhance the overall tone of the mini.
