Anyone coming to the French Golden Demon?

Does every one in France paint their miniatures Academic lol (sorry for spelling?). Perhaps we should start an Impressionist movement, post-post-impressionists-ministyle. Call me Claude.

Different styles exist in France, as well as in others countries... It is easy to make the difference between a mini painted by Thomas Barse and Benoit Menard for example...
But it makes no sense comparing those styles with great currents of arts... Canvas-painting is 2d, mini painting isn\'t...;)

Canvas painting is very hard it involves a few drawings, tons of practice and investment. Painting is easy, it can take you a year to learn how to paint, but a whole lifetime to understand drawing. I don\'t think it is fair to say mini painting is more complex or harded because it is 3d.

The ideas and teqniques used by different artists develope a style by a certain artist. So you can paint a certain style, Academic is one, on a mini by using different teqniques. Some minis are the current trend, NMM and very smooth blending are trendy now. Impressionist painted from Nature, some quicklyto capture their landscape or portrait at that time of the day. I think it was Claude Monet who started \'series painting\', painting the same thing at different times of the day. Since if is very hard to paint from nature on a mini, large than life \"smooth\" minis are the trend. Compairing the sculpture painting and canvas makes perfect sense, they all come in different styles.

I was planning on going, but not anymore. Reason : broken minis. I heard far too many stories to spend 100+ hours on a mini for some clumbsy dumbass to drop it on the floor. GW\'s outrageous policy on this (namely : we\'re not responsible, we don\'t care, we don\'t want to hear about it, go bother someone else) is doing nothing to change my mind either.

Furthermore, I just bought a mounted Eowyn today, and the sculpt quality is so low I have finally decided to completely boycott all GW minis until some bright person there discovers the wonders of quality control.

Other than that, I\'ve got nothing against GW :D.
