argh just gotta vent..got 2nd degree burns on right hand

burned hand when accidentally picked up pan via metal knob on end of heatresistant handle (thought i was near the black part but touched the steel part instead). picked up for like 2 seconds before pain hit....

palm blisterred since put cold water but not enuff ice pharmacist said... fingers as well. hurts lot. was gonna try complete gd toronto sculpt this weekend since very behind due to redoing body for months...

cant really use right hand now... anyone know how long this last?

me never been burned before...

wrap it up in a bandage,the air is what makes it hurt worse in most sever case I have done was done with hot glass tubes I kept my fingers emerged in cold water till pain subsided.Was told by doctor do not use butter it will only cause a cooking effect.He was the one whotold me to wrap it up so no air could get to it.Also go get 100% aloe vera from wal mart or drug store to help with burning sensation.DD

When I was about 12 I managed to pour a freshly made cup of black coffee over my leg - it hurt....a lot. Got some humungous blisters which had to be popped and then the wound dressed with parafin bandages (I think). They were like strips of gauze coated with a substance similar to vaseline. Took a while heal too....

I echo the comments here - go to a Doctor. You say you have blisters and if you pop them, or they pop themselves, that is where you will be prone to infection.

Aww that sucks starfyre, I broken my thumb and had a cast on the last 6 weeks ( off on Tuesday yay ) but that hasn\'t stop me from painting my salute entry ;)
although burns are far worse. :(

get some flaxseed/linseed ,put them in hot water for a bit and then wrap ur hand up with a bandage that was in the water.id say for like 20 minutes everyday.but wait till the water has cooled down.
makes it heal a lot faster.

i had hot lasagne spilled over my hand last year.the lasagne was almost liquid because it was so hot.still have a huge scar on the back of my hand.
but i keep telling everybody that it was a dramatic accident while painting a land raider :D

Like people said... see a doctor. Severe burns should be looked over, especially if they cover fairly large areas. Also, prepare for a quite lengthy healing process. There\'s a lot of tissue that needs re-building. Takes weeks! Sorry to hear about this! :(

That pan of yours seems a bit dangerous! I have never seen a pan that has a metal knob in the end that is in contact with the pan itself and, thus, getting hot. I\'d get rid of it, if I were you.

Aye, this stuff is great. Better yet get some Jelonet and Inadine, place the Jelonet on first the the Inadine and cover them up. The gel stuff draws out infections and will turn the gauze white.
Change once to two times a day depending on how bad it is, and keep doing it until the gel isn\'t drawing any infection.

Plus you can use this stuff on any abrasions or breakages in the skin. Really handy to keep around. (In a fridge if possible.)

Unless advised by someone with medical knowlege DO NOT pop the blisters. They are a cushion between some seriously damaged dermal tissue and whatever you bump into. You think it hurts now, pop them and hit something and pain will be redefined for you.

:cry:Having had 2nd degree burns from a heating pad, it’s going to take weeks to heal.....I didn’t pop the blisters but they broke anyway and the skin peeled off leaving open lesions.

I saw a Doctor who gave me ointment, huge bandage pads and pain killers.

If I understand it correctly the skin under the burn blister is WIDE OPEN to infection. Apparently that is one of the bigger risk\'s to a burn patient is infection.

I would have slaped some thermal paste on it and strapped on a CPU heatsink and whacked up the fan to 100% ;)

But yeah, burns are damn painful as they cover a large area AND go deep.

I had an ingrowing hair removed from my lower back about 8 years ago. I had two holes 1\" appart and connecter like a tunnel with hair continuasly growing, breaking off and growing again. I had this for a number of yers before anything was done to it and at times i could pull out clumps of hair from the wounds.

When I finaly had an op to sort it out I was left with a 3\" long by 1\" wide by 1\" deep wound at the botton of be back. When I came too from the op I was connected to a morphine drip for the pain. I didnt need it and I was sent home the next day.

Through the whole of the 13 weeks it took to heal I had no pain what so ever. I could feel everything that was going on back there when they were packing it every morning but just no pain. All I can say is that I was lucky and that I would have hated to have suffered for 13 weeks or so.

I\'m still kicking myself that I never took any daily morning photos after they pulled the packing out. Would have loved to have watched it heal in stop motion. ;)

Maybee you could do that and post it here ;)

Consider yourself lucky. I mowed the grass the other day and forgot to wear my hat. Since it was somewhat cool and kind of hazy when I first started I didn\'t think anything of it.
I now have 2nd degree burns on the top of my head from sunburn.
