Great tip! Although I noticed you didn't follow your own advice on the hilt of the sword! Still looks great though. :)

I also wonder if you can use this technique to highlight the whole mini, just with not such great contrast...

Ansquer - I think that mini undercoated with black won't be shaded by light as metal. Even white metal minis won't be shaded like polished steel. Nevertheless this article is helpful if you want your mini to be shaded naturally.

Fantastic idea! Somehow I never thought of doing this, but of course taking a picture means you will always get a very natural look to teh mini! Good one mate!
