Looks great, especially considering how damn small it is. It doesn\'t have to be a paint pot, could be a ruler or coin, just soemthing to show scale 
Some suggestions for future improvements:
Do what Louiscypher says to get more highlights, whilst keeping the impression of dark colour. Also you could try using inks to shade with as they give deep rich colours, or glazes to recover colour intensity after highlighting (see my reply to TABs post about her dragon).
Try edgelining the signpost with a lighter brown, just to give it a little highlight.
Fill the gap between the mini and the base with some greenstuff, clay or something and then paint into the base.
