Fire Hounds
Flame Hounds

Ah, how useful those two words are...

Hounds Incarnadine
Hounds Vermilion
Sanguine Hounds

Fell Hounds
Doom Hounds
Dire Hounds
Bale Hounds

See, now we\'re back on familiar territory.

I played around for weeks before i found a name for my chapter...

You said you have the Space Marine Codex. So the rules for him are in there. Maybe you could use the model as a commader for your army. Moat 40K characters are only allowed if your opponent agrees. They usually don\'t.

Much thanks to you all. I lurked here for a while and I think I recall someone saying they couldn\'t duscuss the rules since it wasn\'t allowed, then again, I may just be imagining things.

Anyway, questions:

1. Captain Shrike appeals to me, perhaps it\'s the beak helmet (a favorite in Space Marines) and the claws (yet another favorite). I can assume he excels in close combat, but aside from that, what else does he have to offer?

2. I e-mailed customer-service about Shrike and they said in order to use him, I\' have to follow Raven Guard rules. So does this mean I can\'t make a private chapter with different rules while still having Shrike at my disposal?

3. The Codex tells me my Librarian can have a Familiar. Will I have to build one or can it be bought?

Thanks in advance.

The ability to get into close combat in the first or second turn with his scout and infiltrate abilities. He also has an excellent bodyguard. I don\'t know many people who allow the playing of this particular charicter because he is a unit killer, basicly he\'s just too good for his own good.

To use Shrike, you must use the Raven Guard rules. You cannot use another Space Marine Chapter\'s rules if you want to use him.

3. The Codex tells me my Librarian can have a Familiar. Will I have to build one or can it be bought?

You can buy familiars from the Warhammer 40,000 Demon Hunters model range.

Thanks in advance.

Anytime

Sanguine hounds it is! thanks Flightless. :bouncy:

Now, on to what might be my last question for now. As I was looking at the special rules in the rulebook, True Grit caught my eye. It says I may use my Bolter like a Bolt Pistol, but other than that, I don\'t get much more of an explanation. Could anyone clear all this up for me please?

Also, counter-attack also interested me. From what I can gather, it says that if an opponent declares a charge in the assault phase, I may move my units up to 6\" and charge him instead. Am I right or did I completely miss on this one?

Woo!
*Happydance* etc etc...

I haven\'t got the latest rulebook (monster that it is, i\'ll wait until i have enough Marines for a playable force), but i can tell you about True Grit.
When it says you may use a Bolter as a Bolt Pistol, it means that it counts as a pistol in combat. So a model equipped with a bolter and some other close combat weapon gains +1 Attack for having two CC weapons.
However, i don\'t recall True Grit being referenced in the SM codex at all... Meh, what do i know?

Good luck with the chapter.

Definitely. In 40K there isn\'t a model which is defined as your army general. An HQ choice is just an HQ choice. And a Librarian or Chaplain fulfils that role just as much as a commander.

GW doesn\'t like it when you post stats or that type of thing from codicies because then other wise their would be no reason to buy them.

@Leunam:

True grit allows you to use your Bolter and CCW in CC for the +1 Attack (for two CCWs), but you lose the +1 Attack for charging. Since you get that one only in the first CC phase anyway, it\'s a good deal.

Counterattack: When you get charged, you can move your peeps up to 6\" in order to bring as many as possible into Close Combat range = more counterattacks = higher chance for the enemy\'s charge to backfire :D

And as we will assume that Leunam owns the books, GW can go and shove it. Let them prove he doesn\'t. It\'s none of ours fault if they can\'t write it in a comprehensible manner
