auctions and bidders remorse

I put up an unpainted greater daemon of Nurgle on ebay. Someone bought it using \"buy it now\".

soon after I got the email:

[Hello! :D

I mistakenly purchased this item, would it at all be possible for you to forget that I bid on it and relist it?

It would be doing both me and you a huuuuge favour, as I quite simply do not have the cash to pay for it....

If you could just relist the item it would be more than greatly appreciated.... I very anxiously await your timely response,

Sincerely yours, ]

I checked ebay and saw the same item marginally cheaper, than I checked his transaction history. He has over 40 feedbacks and has bought some pricey items in the past. So I DON\'T for a second think it\'s do to his being broke.
So I replied with:

Sorry you are NOT a NOOB you know how ebay works.
You do realise the other bargain Daemons on line
1 - ONLY ships to United states.
2- the other one charges just as much for shipping as the cost of the model.
The only thing I can do for you is charge you US shipping.

What do you guys think?
Make him stick to contract or cancel?

Unfortunately I think you will not see the cash for this (Imay be wrong) and you will have to relist it anyway.
The only thing you can realy do is contact e-bay and forward on his e-mail, he will then be given a non paying bidders strike against his username.
I hope I am wrong and it sorts itself out this type of thing can be very annoying.

I\'ve used the \"buy it now\" feature, and I believe that several times it gives you the warning of \"you are agreeing to buy this\" or \"pressing here is a binding contract\" some such thing.

If he \'mistakenly\' bought the item, he did so past several warning signs.

I agree with Tim though, its unlikely you will collect, I\'d give him a chance first, then report him to E-bay.

Thanks for the reply.
Any others.
Does anyone really think it was accidental or saw it cheaper...
Because email came like 5 minutes later.

You are probably right about his motive for wanting to back out but it doesn’t really matter, if he doesn’t want to pay he doesn’t want to pay. You could make the effort to try and change the buyer’s mind but it will probably be less hassle for you to just go through ebay’s “non-paying winner” procedure and be done with him.

You’ll get reimbursed for the ebay listing, he’ll get a non-payer strike against him, and you can re-list the item and hopefully get a good buyer.

Good luck.

I hate it when bastards pull this shite. I would :flame: the bastard by notifying ebay that he is a non-paying bidder. But thats just me. :D

I agree that he saw it for cheaper and wants to bid on that one.

I think you have to relist your item, give him a negative feedback and forget it.
If you try to convince him to send the money you will probably spend more time for nothing

We have been selling magic cards much riskier than the minis. got 2 right now that are trying to stiff me. I gave them 24 hours to respond and after that I will send a second chance then will block the ass*oles from any future dealings.
Real people with problems I have waited for life situations to resolve for buyers as long as they are honest and communicate I help, but this one you have is not honest. I think you are correct that he found a better deal and would watch his feedback just out of curiosity. Yet I would avoid the whole damn feed back thing but that is my nature cause he can react and even if he is wrong you still get fall out. No one has pissed me off enough yet. I am sure my day will come but I am slow to anger.

Make him stick to it and when he doesn\'t pay issue a non-paying bidder alert. You don\'t \'accidentally\' click on a buy-in-now button ;)

oooops

I had a friend say he did something like that and thought he was bidding - then got you won! He was just on autopilot he said.
The guy let him off the hook , but here is how he did it.
He did not leave any feedback, but he did report him as a non-payer so he could get his fees back. He told him this up front and no big deal, if he never does it again, but at least ebay will have a record -and(my friend) he gets more two strikes.
That way you make sure he isn\'t going all over the place doing the soame things to others, and if it was accidental, he doesn\'t get visable negative feedbak, just the strike on ebay\'s records.

well he didn\'t use buy it now not knowing what he was doing, but maybe it\'s more like one of those \"I got to have that !!\" moments before realising this will screw up your savings. I mean ebay can do that considering it\'s so easy to bid and you don\'t really handle any money it is very easy to lose track of what you\'re spending. So maybe the guy just though about and decided that he made a mistake.
I tend to try to do things as smoothly as possible with ebay, but I\'m also carful not to loose anymoney in the processe. So I\'d probably ask him to send me payment for the auction fee and relist. And if he refuses to send money for the fee then mark him as a non-payer.

I say hunt him down like a filthy animal and MAKE HIM PAY!!!

just kidding, my wife has done this to people twice, and I was so pissed at her. Once, it was a stupid mistake. she was bidding on a digital camera, but then another better one came up for auction. She stopped bidding on the first one and bid on the second, but it seems everyone else did the same thing! The first one didn\'t get ANY bids the last four days and she accidently won both auctions! She told the first person she changed her mind, and he was REALLY pissed. Can\'t say I blame him. The second time she bid on a toy that was hard to find just before Christmas. After winning the auction she found out my sister had already bought it for my son, so she just never bother to reply to the guy. VERY bad feed back on that one...

I say we kill her... lol

Non-paying Bidder him to Ebay - you\'ll get your fees back, they get a smacked wrist.

I wish Ebay would sort out the feedback system. If a bidder defaults and gets a warning, their right to feedback should be lost. These muppets could then get the lambasting they deserve through feedback.

I should also mention that she has over one hundred transactions with positive feedbacks, mostly from selling my comics, but quite a few purchases as well. So you see, everyone can make a mistake.

Edit: this was in response to LP, Mr.Munkie beat my post.

I see a few options:

Tell the person he has to pay. If he does, all\'s good. If he doesn\'t within the time limit, file a non-paying bidder and relist

Give him the option right then and there to not pay and accept a NPB report. He may say ok.

Ask him to pay just your fees plus relisting fees (and maybe a small premium), don\'t file a NPB, and just relist the item after you get the payment from him.

Option 3 is probably the most generous.

Most important I think is just not getting worked up over it. Worse things can happen on ebay, believe me.
