Thank you! And thank you for the votes, everyone! I'm really pleased with the results. And great to see BAM and Sionid getting multiple awards too. The competition was tough this year, I was sweating the results right to the end.

Yeah, the marine was really impressive but the more I looked at the Orc pirate dio the more I preferred that one. Tons of character, and the official photos made it a lot easier to see all the little details hidden in that piece.

Feel that way about a lot of his work. Technically very good but the freehand seems to be there 'just for the sake of it' rather than painting to create an atmospheric piece.

My wife (who thinks are hobby is silly), said neat but the head does not look right. She thought David's Saxon was cool and really liked the Danse Macabre piece (me too). I thought the ork pirate was the best piece as well.

congrats Bailey on the wins. The mounted Fighter was beautiful live.

Yes Bailey you so deserved your awards, but gotta say that extra bit of dirt on the horses legs tipped you over the edge.
Well done mate I voted for you and Sionid and Papa Bam

Congrats on your wins Bailey, well deserved. Do you know who took the Pegaso win? I was also very cool to meet all the CMoN people that I did.

Thanks, everyone! Means a lot to me.

Khonner, I haven't heard anything about the Pegaso results yet. Pegaso is picking the winner themselves but they weren't at Adepticon, so I assume they will get the photos and then either contact the winner(s) directly or go through CMON. I'm guessing it could be a few days before they get to it. They did announce winners for several of the Dark Age and Wrath of Kings special categories, but I don't see those results posted anywhere.

In the meantime, I'm starting to post my work in the main gallery and P&P. The Knight of the Holy Sepulchre is up and here are the links

Yeah, I posted some of my better pictures although they don't compare to CMON's Crystal Brush page. I know the official photos took ages to finish, but they did do a really nice job on them.

Well, just so you know Crystal Brush wasn't all fun and games. I did find the time to actually sit down and paint. I brought along a few pieces to work on in the seminars, but turns out they had some painting tables and lights setup for general use. So I got to do a little work and chat techniques with BloodASmedium, Sionid, and a few of the other CMON peeps. I did some work on the dwarf wrecker I was doing way back in the day. Most of the work was on the flame thrower. After painting the basic metal on the top, I went over it with some glazes of purple and then black to get that burned metal look. I also experimented with some purple glazes in the shadows of his clothing to deepen them and add a bit more interest.

In other news, the Saxon is now up in the CMON gallery (or at least will be once the mods approve it). I took Krule, Demi, and others advice and put a bit of soot stains on the wood and more grime on the dagger handle.

Hey, well it helps that I take my photos under the same lighting conditions as I paint. And it's a lot easier to take photos of single figures. I think your big units would give me all sorts of headaches when it comes to the pictures. Who am I kidding, painting those big units would be a huge headache too!

As some of you have already noticed, my Dark Elf Assassin is up in the gallery. I'm in the process of building a second base for him (or I guess third now) but with the deadline today for the CMON contest I had to come up with something quick. So I went minimalist with the scenery.

This is my first online CMON contest, so I'm not exactly sure how it works. Based on the description it looks like the official voting doesn't start until tomorrow. I guess everything cast so far won't count? I appreciate all the votes so far, but just in case everyone please cast another vote sometime between Sunday and the following Saturday. A bunch of us are in the contest (me, Zab, Demi, MAXXxxx, fluister, Khonner, and others) so look through gallery and check them all out. Only registered votes count and it's one per account (all subsequent votes are ignored).

In other news, I found out the Pegaso special award from the Crystal Brush went to Rich Erickson's piece (Anna, Bug Exterminator). I was hoping my knight would take it but I'm not surprised with the pick, Rich did a fantastic job and created a really cool scene for the figure. Given the number of Pegaso pieces entered (at least 7 by my count), I was hopeful they'd pick a 2nd and 3rd too... but no luck. Oh well. As a primarily historical figure painter I was really happy to see Pegaso (a primarily historical figure manufacturer) getting involved with the Crystal Brush competition. Hopefully they will be involved again next year so I'll get another crack at it!

Up next I've got to finish off my entry for the MassiveVoodoo bananalicious contest and then it's on to something completely new! Right now I'm thinking either Figone's Alphonse Danlta or Scale75's Jessica Thunderhawk. Knowing me... I'll probably just start on both of them. =)
