Yeah... It is a fair bit smaller than I thought.

WTF!!!! So small! I thought it was like 1/12 hahaha. You painted the inside of his eyelids.... you're a mad man!

Edit: or is that 1/12? So Barbie is like 1/6? Either way. frikking tiny for what you are doing. You are going to have to mount him on a box a magnifying glasses.

Yep Bailey is always good at photographing up close and intimate, so you never know how large the figure really is. They always look life sized to me, which is a testament to your photography skrills.

Let me preface by saying that yes, when you back off the shot the shadows look fairly sufficient to me, and sorting probably isn't neccessary. But as the ball of ten states, perhaps a barely perceptible darkened glaze would suffice. In describing what I originally meant, first no sculpting would be neccessary. You have darkened the lower eyelid which looks fantastic. I meant to say that you could paint a bit of shadow paralleling and contouring the eyelid below it. Just like a people have bags under their eyes shaped like half circles of varying darkness. My concern was that perhaps the highlighting on his upper cheek bones went up too high and too close to what I felt should have been the hollows of his eyes.

But we are truly splitting hairs here. Not to mention I am probably wrong in the first place :) Again, my intentions were to point out that darker bags under his eyes might make him look even gloomier and a bit crazed, supporting his other facial features.

Ha, well the pictures can be a bit deceiving. But, if I only showed it at actual size then you wouldn't be able to see any of the detail work! Compared to the 28-32mm figures is does seem pretty big. And Demi, I think he is 1:12 scale (or maybe 1:15 scale), it's just that's still pretty small.

10, I agree, it could use a little something more. I gave it a touch of purple glaze the other day, but it didn't really do anything. I'll try adding a bit of blue.

Oh I see, when Ten Ball reccomends it, then it is gospel. :)

-totally joking, as I'm sure you know. We all know you are very receptive to recommendations from anyone. Just don't, under any circumstances, take advice from Demihuman. He is the Little Finger of CMoN, pitting artists against one another in order to forward his own ambitions.

Oh, I know. I've been to Demi's home. You wouldn't believe the sort of stuff he has going on there.

As for the eyes, I'm essentially following the sculpt. I wouldn't mind if they were a bit bigger though. The face has been in a finished state for a little while now, but I keep going back and making minor tweaks and adjustments. I will probably continue to play with it until I finish the rest of the figure. And then there's the whole weathering stage. When I go back in to add some more color I may try extending them into the upper cheek highlights a bit.

Damnit I wish I had a computer with software on it so I could circle what I am talking about and post it. I don't think the sculpt influences the placement of shadows where I am talking about. On his right eye, draw a line straight down from his pupil to below the lower eyelid. Here you are using some of your whitest whites. You can almost see a line or half circle that continued from where you do have dark shading. I don't know, just this was the area in question I spoke of. But looks like you got it covered!!

Your "Computer Software" can't help you BFoK! Not now that Bailey is working for me in my master control room! Mwahahaha!

that model is looking great. the manic eyes look so real and give it a really unsettling look.

I completely agree with you points on contrast. interesting to read your thought on it all.

I see you are both working in concert to take me down. Your anti-BloodFather coalition will surely fail! That is quite the setup you got going there, though. Looks like the deck of the USS Enterprise.

In the Demihuman/Bailey Axis of Evil's latest attempt to sabotage my painting efforts, I displayed a near flawless example of NMM armor on my WIP, and Bailey suggests that smearing purple all over it will make it look more realistic. Nice try guys!!

Smearing purple over any mini will always be an improvement.

I put the bust on hold for a bit. I'm at the point where I need to paint the black uniform and it's been a challenge. So, instead of pushing it I'm just going to take a break and work on another project for a little while. I've been meaning to start on one of the Scale75 steampunk ladies for a while and now seemed like an ideal time. I posted this over on the steampunk paint along thread, but I thought I'd share it here too.

I did a quick base coat to get the general idea for colors. Then I went to work on the face and skin. I took a softer approach to the face. So, features like the lines from the nose to the sides of the mouth were subtler. And other features, like the lines under the eyes, were skipped entirely.
