Thanks, all! Yeah, I'm sure at that age I would have had the same reaction if I'd got my hand stuff into paint. To be honest, if I accidentally stuck my hand into wet paint right now I'd probably have the same reaction (well, at least on the inside... I'd hopefully hide it a little better now). The good news is she's not all pouts and grumpy faces...

Meanwhile, back at miniatures...
Last time I'd started roughing in the design for the knight's chest. I took that simple version and filled it in (roughing in the shadows as I went). Started with the basic body and added the beaks. Then I went and did the wings.
Now that I was happy with the basic design, I turned to the background. I wanted to do a black design on a white coat. So I started to work on shading/blending the white for the coat. Not much painting time, so I focused only on the chest for now. You'll notice that this blurs the edges of the design. That's fine. Next I'll go back in and do the shading/highlighting for the design and add more fine details. The previous steps were just so I'd have a guide for the design and so I didn't waste my time blending white in areas that would later be covered up.
