And when he spraypaints your car, how about then?

Is the torture of endangered species really art?

Wether it is legal or not has nothing to do with if he\'s talented or artistic or not. I think that as an artitst he\'s more interesting than most stuff you can see at contemporary art shows or exhibitions from art schools.

Is it legal? No, of course not! Is it good? Hell yes! Two separate issues.

Now, that picture Supervike posted is quite good. Skillful painting, important message, good reflection on society today. I\'m guessing it\'s the same guy whom all this is about and if so then he indeed does have talent, just has to learn to use it for good, not stupidity.

I can\'t see what\'s stupid about doing this stuff in public spaces! ??? By doing it this way he (or she) makes more people see the art and, thus, the statements. That\'s hardly stupid, is it? Again, it has nothing to do with if it\'s legal or not....

I agree. Like I said in my first post on the matter. \"YES\". Yes he is an artist, and yes he is a criminal. The two have nothing to do with each other.

How can you not appreciate this?

<Image removed to save space... scroll up if you need a refresher>

It\'s provacative and political, a real dig at the media and the spin doctor\'s. The man is a genius. Hey! Maybe he\'s a super villain! lol

Provacative and political? Don\'t see it myself, it\'s not pointing out anything new to anyone. Just about every single person of operational intelligence knows how intrusive the media can be so this is illustrating nothing new to anyone nor pointing out any hidden agendas. It\'s about as politically shocking as a cartoon about Hitler and what a sicko he was. At best this rates as a political cartoon to be perhaps placed in the editorial section of a newspaper, not plastered over my/our walls without permission.

People know millions are dying of AIDS, poverty, etc, but do most people act on just hearing the information? A picture is worth a thousand words and can be much more moving. Just because people know the issue you\'re promoting doesn\'t mean you should just give up, you keep hammering your message into people in as many ways as you can in order to gather support and get the mass motivated to do something about the issue.

I like this guy.

I must admit that I\'ve become a fan of this guy after browsing his very c00l website. I thinks it\'s a lot nicer that he\'s placing a little art on these drab gov\'t buildings rather than legally/legitimately dropping bombs on them (mostly civillian bulidings) like some of the worlds current great leaders. A nice guy this Bansky if you ask me.

His actions may be criminalistic in some respects, but it\'s more to do with putting the message \"out there\" than geting an exclusive showing to the creme of society.

I like his work.

Exactly... That is all he has done to it. But don\'t you see what he is saying about it?

I won\'t defend the guy\'s illegal activities, nor his attempts at self-promotion, but there is a message there. And to me its is kind of profound.

He takes alot of famous paintings and draws objects into them. There are a few on the website, the one with the police tape is excellent.

If i saw some of his work on the way to work or college it would surely brighten up my day, would it not yours MPJ?

He does public exhibitions too, the last one featured a live elephant painted with a pattern to look like flock wallpaper I think it is in the \'indoors\' section of his site.

So he\'s into the torture of rare and exotic animals too? Sounds like a real winner.
How is being painted \"torture\"? It happens all the time in Hindu marriage ceremonies :]

Here\'s Banksy\'s too:

Which reminds me...

Back in Bosnia (a couple days ago), some pseudo-political bellends calling themselves \"Colorful Revolution\" (?) Went throwing bags of paint and spraying - the presidency (Think White House). After being told off by a cop, one of those guys starts spray-painting the cop and gets whopped in consequence. And now guess what? The cop is getting sued for \"overstepping his authority\". WTF?
