depending on where she lived ... they have been known to do that, if she lived where they are expecting entry they would have kicked her out, expecially if she lived in a mobile home or on a barrier island

Yep, had a good feeder band come through. Wind (about 20-30 mph) and rain. Just getting warmed up good, but we lost power for an hour. I hope that was not an omen for the rest of the weekend.

This thing is slower than molasses. Less than 100 miles in 12 hours. Gonna pound the snot out of Stewart. Hopefully it blows itself to pieces once it hits land.

Now my neighbor around the corner thinks it is a good time to shoot fireworks. Probably had a good hurricane party all day.

Bloody hell!....

...if you click on the \'start looping\' above the pic you can actually see how fast the thing is moving....very scary..

I just hope it doesn\'t hit the Gulf and swing due west. It\'s happened before and it wiped out Corpus Christi completely in the early 1900\'s. Another hurricane did the same thing a few years later but the people in Corpus had gotten smarter and built some defenses.

I still remember the time a hurricane hit our coast and we had 75-80 mph winds here (and we\'re in the middle of a very large state). The apartment that was directly opposite mine in the same building had one wall (with a balcony on it) torn off. It was the only brick wall. lol

Not so bad here, just power outages

I tried to catch up on this thread a few hours ago, and POOF! the power went out. It\'s done that repeatedly since about noon yesterday.

I normally teach a painting class on Sunday, but canceled. Just as well; I called the store and the only one of my students who showed up yesterday lives about a mile from the store. I don\'t think anyone else ventured out.

Bridges are closed all over town. There are sporatic power outages, as I already mentioned. There will be no public bus service tomorrow. If it wasn\'t a holiday already, I\'m betting most businesses and schools would be closed.

This isn\'t even one of the worst places hit. Jacksonville is about 250 miles from the places that took the worst pounding. Ipaintminis and Airhead would have been slammed a lot worse than me.

For all my apartments other faults, I can thank God and public housing that at least it\'s BRICK.

oh, and there\'s a hula hoop in the yard that wasn\'t there before. Wonder if it will still be there when the storm clears?

Just heard something on the news broadcast about the hurricane.

Hope everyone close to it comes through without a problem.

Thinking of all you guys in Florida.

Here\'s hoping everyone made it through the storm ok - will be checking in here sometime tomorrow evening my time (9-10 am Central) to see how everyone did.

Yes, I have a friend in Fla. too.. She was so happy to get out of the dry desert of Hell Paso, I find it ironic she must now take the full brunt of the elements...

Airhead checking in. All fine here, power out since EARLY Sunday morning. Everything feels wet (funature, me, etc.) from the humidity.

for Christmas, I want either a generator or a battery powered TV. lol

Anybody heard from IPM/TAB? It went right over them.

Mel, glad you are ok. Hang on to that Hulla Hoop. It may be the luck ring.
