There are basically two ways you can go with highlighting:
- lots of subtle steps gradually lightening the colour and using thinned paint for smoothness
- more contrasting colours and fewer layers.
The first will look good when done well and provide a very smooth transition which will not always come across in photos. The second is good for photos as the contrast shows up stronger but doesn\'t look as smooth in real life.
It\'s really a question of finding out what works best for you and the effect you\'re after. If you want to score high on CMON, take the highlights up an extra notch more than you think necessary.
Personally, I love teracotta as a base colour and it\'s a great choice for this mini. Maybe you could focus on getting the fur to contrast a bit more with the body, then work on the axe to give the metal some depth.
And if you can get some better pics, that would help a lot. These are a bit too out of focus. If your macro is working for you maybe try taking the photo from further away and cropping it.
