bgcdazzler's first ever mini WIP (a confusion of cockups and learnings)

Much better, careful when detailing the eyes not to creep up into the forehead as your at your maximum tolerance at the moment, if possible bring the eyebrows down a little

Awesome. I'm with WGS in bringing the brows down slightly and her left eye looks slightly higher than her right one. That, however, may be a picture problem. But thought I'd point it out just in case.

Indeed, thanks WGS. She'll have more head height with her hair on, but I'm very conscious of making this head work. Would hate to have to do it again...

@Arch: the eyes are straight in real life, thankfully.

A few clothes added here, and rough positioning for the arms:

Stop making this look so easy lol. I'm at a point where I got to add clothing armor and extra gubbinz buy I found out I have never done any of that lol.

Much prefer this skirt over the last one ^^
Prior face looks a bit more like an ilustration (a bit more comical maybe if you understand what I mean, which is not necessarily bad) the new one looks more serious, more real world I mean.
So reproducing what is engraved on everybody's mind is a lot more difficult than reproducing a "fantasy" creature. Keep on! you are getting it...

I won't lie - clothes and stuff are much harder I've found. Faces and skin etc are easier because they have non uniform texture and asymmetry - it doesn't matter if you don't get the proportions exactly right. But clothes and stuff have a uniformity that I find really hard to do. That and the coming up with what they should look like too...

I have another mad experiment for this one, I'll let you know how successful it is later.

Nice progress, the arms look right scale, and nice attention to detail in the buttons ( good choice on two hole button less thread to add). When doing the clasps from the suspender belt to the stockings look for a simple form to save complication. The skirt needs a bit of explaining for me, the left side is raised as if she's running (which the pose suggests) but the right side is flat to her leg ? is there a reason for this ?

Thanks for all the tips and support folks.

WGS: here's those details added. Also finished (ish) the boots:

I'll um, hopefully come back to you on the skirt...

Oh, alright then!

here's the slightly mad plan, another thing I've not tried before, and the explanation behind the skirt flaring up too.

Step 1: a Diet Coke can, sacrificed:

Step 2: covered in a layer of Fimo and baked. I kept a texture in it because it will probably be a long military coat type affair:

Step 3: held against the model to check fitting. Not bad; a bit of trimming and it will sit on nicely, I think. As long as the glue holds...

The aim is to have a coat flowing in the breeze. Does it work, everyone?

Ha! Not to shabby bud. Now fix the head it's driving me crazy...ier...than I already am. It's the ears :)
I liked how your can idea panned out. Might have to use that coming up.

Ha, I'll get there. Just the coat, arms, weaponry, ears and then hair to do.

And the base.

Plus assorted little bits.

And then paint it.

This was definitely one of those 'go big or go home' ideas. I probably should've just gone home...

I wholeheartedly approve of this coat idea. And shall shamelessly steal the idea of using a coke can in the future.

I think she's turning out really well - going big clearly works for you. Hopefully she hasn't been too stressful though. Having fun is still the goal.

Steal away (both of you): I'm sure I stole it first off the internet somewhere.

I'm very conscious that the models are getting bigger and bigger, so I'm thinking about a fleet of small ones next. Time to go insane with the tiny details, me thinks... Perhaps some nurgle pirates... I dunno. I'll finish her up first and start something while I'm painting her.

Surely a 1:1 scale "mini" is next? From what I understand its best to refine your skills on larger models before going smaller, perhaps try to make some at 54mm size and work down to 30 later, the busts are good practice but I suppose you don't get any practice on anything below the shoulders then
