bgcdazzler's first ever mini WIP (a confusion of cockups and learnings)

Overall impression is quite good. In parts he looks unfinished: His green shorts/skirt/whatever look a bit out of place and the red border a bit rough. All in all at least missing some shadows. The hair is missing some global shadows as well, I think. The freehands are nice, I feel you've gotta work on pushing the quality on the larger areas.

Voted.

Lol Digga... Thanks everyone.

Schwarz, I agree with your assessment: good things to bear in mind for the next one.

I realised I hadn't put up where the lady warrior has got to - here she is with the dragon head roughed out in foil. It's going to be a pretty daunting bugger to finish, given the scale of it...

on the lady I improved her hair, added more belt details, fixed the bum leg as khavor pointed out, and added more armour detail. Need to finish her pauldron and other various bits, but wanted to start working up the whole scene now. Or with war done I might relax with another quick bust sculpt - I could do pestilence next as Arch has already done him and he's sat on my sideboard giving me inspirational vibes.

Firstly: *hugs* for Real World harshness.

Secondly: Voted.

Thirdly: I hope the damage on Pestilence wasn't too much of a pain to repair. I'd love to see your version of him!

*Shhhhh I'm not here. The ninja ArchArad strikes again!*

Hello Dazz!
*enters the room with the feeling of being past next to someone else... but... nobody is there* *shivers*
xD

It feels like you got exhausted with the elf and needed to finish him asap, so I somewhat agree with Schwarz-bot opinions... anyway I see some OSL reflections on his hair and hand which is really cool.
I would vote for a 10 for him since it is really amazing that you are able to do both (sculpt and paint) processes... but I also know that you want us to be really critics with your work so I try to do so. I will let comments on the gallery ;)
Also his hair would benefit from some shadowing... since now looks a bit plain (but it could be the light of the picture hiding your work)

On the new female figurine... hate to say this, but I feel that the rightmost breast is a bit gravity defying ^^' it should follow the movement of the figurine don't you think?
On the other hand work on his right thigh musculature is great!

Boobs do some amazing things Maen, who are we to judge which direction they go lol. As long as were on the topic of critisism I think the face could use a little work. I know its not done, but I feel the jaw is to square for a female and the lips are to big for the face or maybe to far down from the nose. Also you got to tell me what you used to scetch my new and improved Famine monster cause that was awesome.

Nice job on the elf: voted! He's doing pretty well so far.

Looking at the pics I think you really need to push the faces on your sculpts. Although the elf's face is pretty good, I feel like it's still the mini's weakness. So far the female warrior is suffering the same problem. Give it another shot with her. YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO THIS! DON"T SETTLE! If she's going to be a beautiful amazon warrior she needs a beautiful face!

On the handful of minis I've sculpted, I found it's easier to only put a straight wire sticking out the top of the armature. That way you can sculpt the head separately and glue it on. More importantly you can try multiple times if you need to without damaging anything. I think I've always had to try 2 or 3 times to get one I like.

Voted for you, I have to agree with Schwartz (and this is me being particularly critical, hopefully in a constructive way) there's a mismatch in quality, the cape looks fantastic with lovely freehand but the bottom of the shirt doesn't show the same painting ability. To critique the sculpt in general I'd say perhaps the fingers are slightly too thick compared to the slenderness of the arms. Overall i voted a 9, its still a phenomenal job and I was being nitpicky in hopes of helping. I think most of us know what its like being near the end of a project when fatigue sets in

voted too phnominal work dazz, but i have to agree with the comments made my schwartz, maenas and khav. i don't really have a lot to add to those comments because they said all i wanted to say but don't get disheartened and keep going!
*picks up the cheering pompoms that seem to have mysteriously appeared in the room and uses them*
