no this is simple maturity, the older guys are spending THIER money and the teenagers are either spending mommy and daddys money, or have no other expenses.
and it should tell you something, why on earth are people paying that much from one figure.
but you hit it on the head. most hitoricals are for gaming. of course we are in the wargaming hobby. at least i am. but i know that an army for say a game like piquet requires a LOT of figures, so cost is certainly and option. you try painting 500 figures(generally the same pose) to the exacting standard and you will go insane. i promise

I like historicals if they are painted well - but a lot of them just suck. This is not directed at anyone in particular, but I have seen a fair amount of historical poo posted here and in real life.
When I was painting full-time, I think I found out why - most historical wargamers are looking for playing pieces, and could care less about the paintjobs except that they look enough like they should to enter tournament games. It was really bizarre - I could get a teenager to drop $100 on his fantasy army general, but I couldn\'t convince a lot of well-established guys to pay more than $1 per mini for 15mm squads of 10 (and they often wanted a one-day turnaround to boot).
This sort of behavior seemed to vary by age - the older guys didn\'t care about quality, and the younger guys were willing to take the time and money to get it done right.
EDIT: he he, I said \"historical poo...\"![]()
