hey CMON...

i got the collage size issue worked out, so here is the second addition to my gallery...
it\'s kind of a drag startin\' off with the old minis...they don\'t show how i paint these days, but they do give a bit of perspective on how i\'ve chosen a style to paint, and then tried to tighten up the skills...

this guy is another that i worked on back when i lived in amsterdam...
he was built right when the latest edition of the chaos marine plastics first came out(\'01?)...when i saw the ridges on the shoulder pads, i knew i would have to try \'em out on a imperial marine...
the extra bit of armour on the shoulder pads inspired the extra bits of armour on the arms, which inspired the siege theme...a few more snips, and borrowed parts later, and i had a cool conversion...
he sat in my case for a year or two before i finally decided to give him some paint...

not my best paintjob ever, but it was my first crack at a black templar, and the first time i covered a mini with so much script...
not sure how i feel about the result, but i like all the old school parts(the bits on the ground are from the old battlewagon kit, and the extra armour are from the original termie box set)...

Not keen on the script, bit to thick IMO, if it were finer and double the amount then rit would probably look a bit more \'in scale\'

Other than that decent stuff, i\'v never managed black well.

ditto on the script, and the blue stains on the weapon look a bit odd, dunno what it\'s supposed to be.
Rest is pretty neat, I like the black armor.

yeah, the blue glow is electricity...

there are a lot of things i will do differently on the next templar(maybe grimaldus, the chaplain)...
lookin\' back on a 6 year old paintjob(especially in macro photos) really makes me cringe...
oh well, we learn from our experiments and failures...

I dig the clean look. Very cartoony, it probably would have got an 8 back in the day, if it was indeed painted in \'01.

i\'m all about the cartoony, comicbook, graphic arts kinda result for my own minis...i like a lot of different styles, but i\'m workin\' on perfectin\' my approach to paintin\' before i branch out and try different styles...

@jake:this guy was built in \'01, and painted in \'03 for a local l.a. paintin\' contest...

As said, I don\'t like the script. But that\'s by todays standards, and stacking the mini up againt the last marine you posted. You\'re way better with a brush now!

It\'s still a solid mini, and I hear your cry of the pain in seeing a paint job blown up to 6x lifesize!

I look forward to seeing you tackle some of the other marines, especially the characters. If you\'re collecting opinions I\'d like to see the script only go on light/white areas of the model and have it painted on in brown wash/ink so it sort of mimics the script on parchment look. Just one mans opinion.

Can\'t wait to see more of your stuff go up for votes!
