My fav is the first one. Love the osl and the marble on the crossier was really well done. I thought the base was a little plain tho. Voted an 8.5

All of them are very nice. The NMM and OSL are done very, imo. Voted on all of them.

I think it needs more darker-medium veins - as the near-white veins seem to stark...

Hmm, well I guess I must be a nob then, because if we didn\'t have to vote in round numbers that is probably exactly what I would give it.

It\'s a decent enough and mostly clean paint job (although things like the vents on his pack look rather less good), but nothing about it is truly spectacular for me.

I don\'t think that you have pulled off the osl from the candles as well as you could have either to be honest. I like the way the light causes the candles to change tone at the top, but the light hitting the backpack doesn\'t quite do it for me. The base is pretty basic too, although the different edging is a nice touch.

Thanks for your opinion lono. Its far better to have someone give a comment as to why it should be 7.8. I can\'t say i agree with you but oh well. Since i would consider this by best piece by far it kinda makes the mind boggle. I normally estimate correctly as to what my work ends up scoring and lets just say that not making an 8.00 seams kinda odd. Happy painting.

Grimaldus is my favourite, I gave him an 8. Very impressive OSL imo The base is very plain thought, which brings it down a bit for me. otherwise, nice jos on all of \'em

I very love your 40k minis, they\'re always amazing and full of character! All 9 for me!

However i think that a little more detailed bases would be good on these great paintjobs... have you ever seen moltenlead metal bases for sci-fi? I very love them!

Great work these miniatures however, and the effect of marble is very good! :beer:

the base rims don\'t look finished klaus, that will drop you points from most people instantly.

you have stepped your painting up another notch tho so don\'t feel bad.
i know i need to do some more practising, or buy a round the world ticket and take mikes hammer for a wander:twisted:

Cheers for ALL comments. Yeah the bases are left quite plain as i wanted the miniatures to be the main focus rather than i nice colourful base. They fit onto a display base. erm it would help if i showed you a pic

I must agree that I think even 7.8 is too high for the Templar. No offense man, but there are certain areas that need a lot of work on him. See my comment on the mini for my reasoning.

You can\'t win \'em all. Just suck it up and try harder next time. Scores don\'t mean anything as long as you are happy with what you have done.

I think some people are missing the point here. I\'m not saying my work is amazing, perfect and without flaws. I\'m not asking for a 9.00 or 10.00 here. I know what could be better with it but saying its not even a 7.8 is just ridiculous lol. I have gaming pieces in my gallery with higher scores. One thing your right about is that scores don\'t mean anything as this thread has proven that. Below 7.8 my :moon: Happy painting

Well, what is interesting is that you still have both entries for Grimaldus, in the gallery

The original, smaller photos, is a 8.4.
The new larger ones is at 7.9.

Is there a potential to vote the new set down because they\'ve already seen the same pics before???
Do the new, clearer pics show more potential flaws and folks are able to better judge the pics??
Are the new set of pics lower because of the nature of this thread??

so many potential questions, motives etc.

Voting DOES mean something, though, otherwise the site wouldn\'t exist. But in this case there are other factors potentially affecting the score(s)

Yeah Rob you do have good points. I\'ve never double posted until now. IMO i thought that the more recent pic was better but maybe it is too large. I don\'t think many painters show there work this big as you will find flaws in it more easily.

Okay, I\'m a big fat liar about scores not meaning anything of course they do but when you see stuff under-rated and some over-rating it makes you wonder whats going on here.

I think calling some voters \"nobs\" didn\'t help things either

I think you should stop that, the whining I mean, I don\'t think this is a kickass piece, I voted a 7, if you think everybody vote like you want them too, I think you got this whole voting-thing wrong. The point is that other minds could give them the points they think the model deserves, not what the painter want it to be, in that case you could just say \"this is a 9\" and put it in your cabinett.

Why a 7? well, I don\'t like NMM, unless it looks like, or better than gold, I don\'t give points for trying something new, I give points for succesful tries, as I do with sculpting, if the model looks worse than it did orignially, I drop a point or 2.

Same goes for the light effects on his back, sorry.

and while im still writing, I could give a comment on the freehand on his parchements, they look a bit unsharp and thick, thinner lines would look more like scripture.

So no, I can\'t give this model much higher than 7, and I know you\'ll probably hate for that, but I think that a 7 is rather fitting really, it lacks that \"extra punch\" and love you could\'ve given to it.

So cheer up, keep on trying

Thanks for you comment Hygmer. I\'m not saying its a kick ass piece either. I don\'t hate you...i dont hate anyone. I know when I\'m getting nobbed by nobs and this is a perfect example IMHO. A 7 eh?? anyone think its a 6? lol Go on you know you want to. Have you folks looked at the Cmon selling page for ebay recently its full of 8+ materpieces that need your vote.
