Black Templar ideas needed

I\'ve never been good playing marines, so me starting a Black Templar army just makes scence.

I was wanting any ideas from any veterans about what I should put in my army and what is the best wargear options for what charichters.

Well Black Templars are a more cheezy version of the Space Wolves.
First Up your going to have to have your Emporer\'s Champ. Your Second HQ should be a Chaplin (since he has a rosarius). What will handycap you as a player is your lack of Dev Squads. So to make up for it you should maximize your Toops. You should have 3 huge 10 man blocks mounted in Rhinos to be the core of your CC force. Take those power fists when ever possible. The other three troops should be 5 man squads with bolters and one Heavy weapon. Perhaps Razorbacks.
The rest of the choices should be Dreadnaughts and Land speeders. No matter how interesting they look, Stay away from Landraiders they are crap.

In terms of Wargear. Frag grenades, and purity seals other than that your spenidng to much points.

On the subject of cheesyness, this really riled me up: http://us.games-workshop.com/e-zine/current/6/default.htm
Basicly it ends up saying all claims of something in the game being unfair are just people being a crybaby. Sounds like GW just trying to cover Gav\'s ass, there are many inbalances in the game!

chessy?

WHAT!! Black templar are not that chezzy you green alien fool! Space wolves are not cheesy either. There just special ruels for them. Well anyway, yeha for your black templar army. don\'t listen to him
Land Raider is not crap. But I suggest the Land riader crusaer because. You can storm inthere with troops. and the land radier can give the troops cover fire and protecion fomr other things on the other side, you know oyu can enter 3 points of the land riader right?
(left, front, rihgt) and make sure you have LOTS of troop choces
3 squads of 7 marines with rocket launchers would be cool.

Steve
good luck with your army!

Nah, not really, there are a few things that aren\'t exactly spot on, but generally 40k and warhammer are pretty balanced. I find most calls of beardyness are really just because people haven\'t learnt how to play with their own armies properly yet, or are using the wrong tactics for an opponent.

A unit that is effectively the same will have very different effects in different armies depending upon how it works with the rest of the army, close combat troops would be worth far more to a Tau player than a Tyrannid player for example. Thus its quite often the case that to get the different flavours into armies there is musch juggling of unit types/availability/costs.

3 wraithlords is often bandied about as being really beardy, but its actually pretty easy to deal with especially if you know its coming, take a bunch of snipers (ratlings are best) and watch those wraithlords turn into so much scrap.

The one thing that has constantly caused me issues is the death company, blood angel players always seem to have hordes of them, and they can do an obscene amount of damage, but if you can bring out the strength 8 weaponry or power weapons than they go bye bye as well.

I already expect to get a LR Crusader. Hurricane bolters can fire no matter what, and with the machine spirit special rule, I can fire the hurrican bolters and multi-melta normally, and machine spirit the twin assaultcannons into life.

Lack of devastators isn\'t a problem for me, mostly because it\'s a CC army and because my normal troops can be given a plasma cannon. Mostly, though, I\'m mostly going for a fast army.

Your Second HQ should be a Chaplin

Actually the Emperors Champion takes up no slots on the Black Templar force organization chart.

oops, forgot to actually give my thoughts

as for advice
-assault marines + a chaplain with a jump pack, terminator honors, bolt pistol and nothing else. these guys should hug cover on one flank
-a 10 man squad in a rhino for the other flank
-champ should join a big 15 man unit on foor who go through the center
-dread with a lascannon to get tanks

just my 2 cents

The most times I\'ve heard the cry of cheesyness is when I was playing against a IG Mechanized company player useing the new trial vehicle rules. When I showed him the amount of extra rules my army had, he wouldn\'t stop crying cheese, which was a real shame when his 3 demolishers and his battle tank, vanquisher, and basilisk took down my entire army.

I think the game is pretty balanced. I think it\'s the commander skill and tactics play a huge roll. I have a friend in Mobile who refused to use Waveserpents. Why? They were cheesey and everyone just wants to load troops in vehicles and shoot everything. He finally dropped that non-sense when a 14 year old newbie (Second played) beat him with an all infantry IG army. The kid couldn\'t afford the tanks yet abnd he bought everyone\'s odd and ends IG to make a nice mix-match force. After my friend was spanked by this newbie, he simply packed up his stuff and left the gaming store. He didn\'t come back for one month.

Moral? Tactic, Tactics, Tactics. Pray for good die rolls.lol

What is your definition of cheesy? What if we made all armies the same? Threes across the board, no special abilities, no special troops, no special vehicles.Everyone will have lasguns and bowie knievs for close combat. Pretty bland huh?

Will people stop claiming things are cheesy?!!?!?!?! :flame:

So damn what? Its this mumbo jumbo bull, thats turning 40k and fantasy into generic dice games that happen to involve models!

So what if an army list allows you to have 9 Obliterators or 60000guardsmen with 200 Leman Russ\'s! No one is forcing anyone to take these beardy armies! Bring back the good ol\' days where every model in your army had a name and you got down on you knees and cried whenever anyone of them was gunned down by a vortex grenade or overrun by khornate stormboyz!!!:(:(

I\'m gonna go to bed, this days been hideous:rolleyes:
