blairs hot sauce (ive accepted a challenge)

just to let all know...i have taken a challenge and apparently will be doing this in the coming weeks. i am going to be trying me some blairs hot sauce.

if any of you know about the hotness factor of this, pray for me. i will be posting the video on youtube whilst my friends laugh and make fun of me for doing something so stupid.

any advice for those here who have done this before.

Work your way up. We eat regularly at a Tex-Mex place with a hot sauce bar. Don\'t start with Endorphin Rush (53k scoville units), but work your way up to it.

I checked out the site, no mention of where the sauces rate on the scoville scale.

The \'hot\' chemical in chillies also dissolves in alcohol. For that to do so, you\'d need something fairly strong, and you\'d need to hold the alcohol in your mouth, too.

Beer isn\'t going to cut it, but it might work to hold mouthful of whiskey :). Good luck, mate!

They make a whole range, which one are you supposed to be having?

I would strongly second airhead\'s suggestion of working your way up to whatever it is in the days ahead, with successively hotter stuff.

Don\'t take the warning lightly - respiratory distress can result directly or indirectly (you can aspirate some by gasping, directly into your lungs, which is bad, very bad).

apparently the 750 skoville units. im excited. i get a free level up with my character in our d&d game if i do it.

From what I can find, the Scoville units range wildly, and really can\'t be trusted, but this link:

I see Blairs Mega Death sauce at about 550,000 units.

Not sure it that\'s the same one.

The hottest I\'ve ever had was

Dave\'s Insanity Sauce which rates only a paltry 150,000

If the bottle comes with a pair of gloves, make sure you\'ve mixed it with at least
20 liters of whatever the other sauce is.
Some of those sauces will literally take your skin off.
Endorphin Rush is the hottest one I\'ve ever tried, personally, and undiluted at
that. It was quite painful, but not entirely unbearable (Nice sweet initial flavour,
followed by pain).

If it\'s any of the ones hotter than Endorphin Rush, demand at least two
character levels for your character.

Seriously.

a little known secret:

Get a hard candy (jolly rancher) the sugar neutralizes the capsaicin oil.

Crackers help. They absorb the oil and get it out of your mouth.

Milk, water, tea, beer, etc. only help spread the oil to all the surfaces of your mouth.

Don\'t rub your eyes.

Wash your hands before going to the restrooms (there are some pieces of skin that should never come into contact with capsaicin oils.....)

In case you might be underestimating this, you need to appreciate how hot that really is - many times hotter than anything you\'ve ever had anywhere previously.

It\'s more than 100 times hotter than Tabasco (!) so if you can\'t shake that (and I\'m talking copious amounts, not a couple of drops) directly onto the back of your tongue/tonsils without a problem...

Milk works, but how well is directly tied to the fat content so milk sure don\'t work equally everywhere. Tea is bad, very bad (most hot beverages are) IME too, and anything watery just spreads the pain to every nook and cranny of the mouth, assuming they\'re not already on fire :D

From testing I\'d say the two best remedies are cheese and plain yoghurt (the same caveat as above holds for yoghurt too - higher-fat types are a must).

I\'ll try the crackers tip but starchy foods like cornbread, plain rice, bread and grits haven\'t had much impact from what I can remember.

Wash with lemon juice or lime juice for best effect. Trust me on this one. lol

oh i know...i ate three habeneros at one time once... my colon was squirting out flaming poo every few minutes. i didnt even have to go to a persons house and light a bag on fire. i just farted and the hijinks ensued.

Dude, those sauses are BRUTAL...

I\'ve eaten a lot of hot stuff but that stuff is INSANE!!

I\'d work up to it...

Start with Jalapenos...
then Thai bird chilies (Little red chilies that don\'t look liek much till they burn you outta your skull)
then a habenaro ( like setting your face on fire, I was sweating so much i almost passed out from dehydration)
then the mighty Scotch Bonnet (the most painful $50 i\'ve ever obtained)

Usually when I eat peppers I will start with something hard, tequila works well and a couple of lime slices...
finish with alot of milk and bread with butter....
