Having seen GW Forge Worlds cool Blight Drone model, I was inspired to have a go at sculpting my own. The idea was to make one in the space of a week, taking photos along the way to post as a WIP thread on this fine website.
As tends to happen with my intended speed sculpting exercises, my obsessive / perfectionist / afraid to commit habits take over... So, several weeks down the line, here I am, yet another half finished sculpt on the shelf! Anyway, this thread will hopefully encourage me to speed up with this project.
Where my sculpts tend to fall down is the lack of planning and preparation. With this in mind, I started with a few sketches: studies of the existing model and doodles of some ideas of my own.
Although I liked the idea of trailing tentacles to disguise the vertical stand for the model, it didn\'t go ahead, although I can\'t quite remember why?! This WIP montage shows my progress so far:
The gun was constructed from numerous lengths of plastic tubing and the rest sculpted from Kneadatite green and brown and Procreate putty (grey). I\'ve since added more work to the body and engines. Hopefully I\'ll update with more photos in the week.
I also have a big collection of Nurgle Plague Marine sculpts I\'ve been working on. I hope to add a big WIP thread combining these soon. Comments etc welcome
