Blizzard Minis?

Sorry for weighing in so late (I\'ve been away on vacation), but as Wightzombie said, Blizzard did release the rights for Diablo 2 to a mini company. There were two sets, a hero collection with the five original playable characters and a monster collection.

I don\'t know if they are interested in starting a real line of figures. No one can say that Blizzard doesn\'t recognize a good opportunity when they see one, and it seems if the collector\'s sets did well, they\'d have already expanded into this niche.

Actual Starcaft minis do exist. I know cause I have them. :) A few hundred (guessing) sets were made, but as someone else said, the deal fell though, so Blizzard could not sell them. They are quite rare, but once in a while one will appear on eBay.

Starcraft does have a tabletop game, its called Warhammer 40k! Now, I know theres no official connection, but just look at the races...

Zerg = Tyranid
Terran = Space Marines
Protoss = Eldar

Just thought I\'d throw that out. I figure if Starcraft ever game out with an official tabletop game, it would be drowned out by more popular games. Face it, tabletop gaming isn\'t something you can pick up for a few weeks and then drop it. If it ever came out, by the time people had painted up armys the game will have already flopped.

Have fun!

P.S. Overlords would be pretty cool looking though :cool:

somewhat true Pellimore but blizzard isnt your average company. from being arguably the single most popular, big and awaited game company around on the pc and soon to be console, they have legions of fans, incredibly cool art from samwise didier, and many backgrounds games and novels with which to create a very good world, yet different from GW.

i really cant think of anyone else who may be able to rival GW with a scifi and fantasy world.

also when gw got the lotr liscense i thought cmon, this will be gone as soon as the movie is, but, since its selling well, and they will come out with tons of minis, some not found even in the movies, i think it will be around for a bit. i think if blizzard did a large initial build up, got perfect sculpting ala thier characters unto the liekning of rackham, i think they could make a impact and a lasting one in table games.

but will they? no.

and GW will be dealt with in the future. WOOT!

Uh, do people even read posts before they reply witht eh same info over and over? Typical American attention span, I guess...:rolleyes:

Anyways, I definatly think the Protoss are world different from Eldar. Eldar don\'t have psiblades and no mouths. Apparntly, Protoss just think their language. Plus, Tyranids are too Chitonous. In the game, their are definatly \"squishy\" elements, like the larva and queen. I\'d also like to see a spacemarine with a southern accent.

Getting back to the minis, if they made a system, they should really balance it, because though a horde of tanks is possible in the PC game, it doesn\'t seem good to go out and buy these huge boxed sets. If you think about it tjose space ships would be a heck of a lot bigger in scale than they are on the screen. Warcraft doesn\'t really have this problem, except with boats but I don\'t think that should be encorperated into a skirmish/battle game.

As for Petitioning Blizzard, like I said: the website just has tech information and ordering. They don\'t really have a comment box. Oh well.. here\'s hoping I can use Night Elf Minis soon! :D

Hey doc, you finnaly started posting on the CMON forum. I was wondering when you where gonna join us. Anyway welcome to the CMON forum.
Has for Blizzard mini, whille it would be a great idea, I don\'t think they are obligated to make a game to go with the minis. They could just be real nice display mini. I would love to see Lost viking minis has well. :D

Well, I\'m sorry that I didn\'t pick up on the minor details mentioned in a few posts relating starcraft to warhammer 40k. I\'m also sorry that I didn\'t go into deep study picking out those details before posting. Besides that, I find it very wrong that you would relate not only my post (which obiviously said something not mentioned before, if you continued to reply with more Starcraft-Warhammer40k opinions) but an entire nation\'s character to such stereotypical nonsense.

I also apologize if I sound rash, but I\'m just blowing off a little steam.

Also, about that \"I\'d like to see a spacemarine with a southern accent.\" Well, your welcome to come visit me out here in Florida, cause I guarantee at least one space marines gonna be full-blown redneck.

Have fun!

\"\"\"Getting back to the minis, if they made a system, they should really balance it, because though a horde of tanks is possible in the PC game, it doesn\'t seem good to go out and buy these huge boxed sets.\"\"\"

well, thats why they would do the games workshop balancing scheme. duh.

\"\"\"If you think about it tjose space ships would be a heck of a lot bigger in scale than they are on the screen.\"\"\"

well thats why they would break it down like GW did into practical categories. space ships, larger tanks would go into a epic game or battle fleet game. many more units would of course be created for starcrafts universe just like they were for world of warcraft. it would probably be a fully fleshed compact universe.

i almost hate to say it but it wouldnt be a horrible idea if GW picked up the liscense and pulled a LOTR out of there hat again. similar, easyily adaptable gameplay, large backing etc.

\"\"\"Warcraft doesn\'t really have this problem, except with boats but I don\'t think that should be encorperated into a skirmish/battle game.\"\"\"

actually they could even make a fully developed manowar game in the warcraft world with more character than man o war ever had. that would be interesting. wish theyd update manowar. fun game.

Uhm, since I live in America, it\'s safe to say I can criticize all I want because I know my first Amendment rights.. Secondly, It\'s not just you, in the majority of the posts I read it looks like a broken record. This is just something that happens, and no can stop it, but it gets on my nerves anyways.

Cheers!

Diablo Minis

Ral Partha was going to produce figures for diablo. That all fell apart, but not before some pre-production /concept type minis were cast.

I recently (well, about 8 months ago) had the opportunity to paint one of the diablo minis for the guys at Iron Wind Metals (owners of all the Ral Partha molds). The one I painted was an archer and a very nice figure. The scale was close to 54mm and it had superb detail and was in general an excellent figure.

I\'ll go over to IWM sometime very soon and take pictures of the figure I painted for them so\'s I can show it to all you Blizzard fans.

Peace.

Wel, I\'ve decided after my current projects, I\'m going to try and attempt my first full scratch sculpt. Since I\'m trying to make up a Campaign for Warcraft III based on mercenaries, I\'m goig to try and do my character, Chrispy Firegut (working title). He\'s a Pandaren Brewmaster, which is kinda like a half-bear, except he\'s a panda (Pandas aren\'t bears, they\'re like giant raccoons)....Here\'s what he looks like in the game:

pandarenbrewmaster.gif

The wierd thing in the game, though is they give him a Japanese Style dress, and Pandas are mostly from China...

Oh, I should mention my \"current projects\" are 2 more Mid Nor Dwarves and Nightbringer, so it may be a while... :p

i think his whole getup is meant to be the drunken master deal from china somewhat ala jackie chan. its like the orc swordmaster who is a collage of artistic looks just based from many civs from history. its really just artistic liberty and the translation of what you pick up to paper to make cool.
