BloodFather's Axis of Chaos

Yes B3, was considering that very thing today. Not doing red because that is about all I've ever seen it painted. Was thinking blonde, or some variation of blonde. Also considering strongly of doing the hair in that super black with blue tinting-just not sure I can pull it off...ZENITHAL PRIMING

Just a quick face and hair WIP to see what everyone thinks. Face going to get darker in shadows and much lighter in highlights still. But I had to stop now so just wanted some C&C...

I love the hair. I think you nailed it. When you finish the skin I think it will be a perfect blend. As for the armor, what color you going for there? To me it looks like a cool bluish steel would look cool but what were your thoughts.

Yep face still has a lot of work, consider the shadows and highs are in the outline phase. Still needing meat.

With the armor, my original plan was to make him all gold with silver accents. But the new silver I've been making is causing me to rethink this. My new recipe is a red-black color in the shadows, and a blue green to white in the light. Is a very smooth and reflective look with plenty of nuance in the color. Hmmm...wanted to show what I am capable of with gold though...so really need to decide. Like now...

That blond is niiiiice. So are the mustaxes, especially considering how small they probably are...your NMM is getting so good.
I kinda like the red face but I think it'd have more impact if it was contained? Like his cheeks-nose-forehead are flushed from the effort of swinging that great chin-carpet around. Or sprinting in heavy armor, whatever.

Thanks all for the support. Agree that I should maybe reduce the red of his face to the nose and cheeks. I am having some issues on his face, because I had to clean up the eyes so many times, trying to make them even and realistic, that I overworked some areas a bit. Think Ill spend a few minutes cleaning things up, but it may be time to move on soon. And if you think this guy has red face, you haven't seen my dwarf 3-4 pages back.

Feeling a bit disorganized right now. I have multiple projects in various levels of completion, and I feel like I am always more excited about the next project. Feeling like I need some direction. A single mini takes me so long that it's tough to tell myself that if I go back to a project that it won't take me forever to complete. Let me briefly describe my projects:

Cannibal- Dwarf is 90 percent painted. Just need to paint some rough areas and finish his robe. The base is a big one and is about 50 percent done. Just can't decide how to paint the cobblestones and rubble that he stands on, as well as some other color questions.

Gokan-I really hate saying this, because I know I encouraged so many others to join. But I really have no desire to return to this model. And we should paint what makes us happy, right?

Chaos Chosen-About 70 percent done with the painting of the mini. No ideas for basing. However, this really started out as an exercise in NMM gold, and I really upped my game with gold by painting this model, so mission accomplished there.

Chaos Lord-Currently painting this converted mini. Highly motivated right now, but I know that I'll start to slump a bit as I get about halfway done with all the metals. This is going to be part of a huge project where I build a dog sled with chaos symbols and shields and skulls adorned all over it, pulled by some chaos hounds of some type.

But the real problem lies with all the cool projects that I have up and coming. I have:

the Flower Knight, and I've been itching to paint this for awhile. A long while. When I do paint this, the base will likely take me longer than the mini.

Two top secret minis. I am blessed to say that I received advanced copies of some very, very top notch minis. One of them won't be released for months, so I can't even show WIP shots. I've seen pics of the other one online, though, so I feel okay sharing it with you guys.

And finally, the Lock and Load competition is just minutes from my home on June 5th. Having only taken part in one local painting contest-and won!-I want to show up to this Privateer Press comp with my A game. And whatever I choose, I'm leaning towards a massive sky earth NMM project because I feel this fits these minis so well. And those can take awhile...

So long story short, I am a bit overwhelmed and need some direction. I just want to paint so any things right now!!!!!!

Demi, I thought of you when I posted him. Thought he reminded me of something you'd paint. He is from Sebastian Archer's Twisted game and line of minis. They are all unique and super awesome like the above. They'll be available to the general public before too long. Wish I could show the rest but I'll need to get permission before posting any WIP photos. All I can say is these will be some highly sought after minis...

Need to post this. The NMM on the spear is the same as the mustache axes, but obviously a larger level. I love the right side but think maybe the left could get glazed and unified with some gray. I hate to say it, but maybe too much contrast given the different colors used (Khorne red on left, Sotek green on right). Or does it work?

Oh, I know the dangers of having too many projects all too well. And once I get to a certain point on a figure, I'm often more excited by the next project than my current one. My advice is, when a project can be quick, try to wrap it up before moving on. If not, then paint what has you most interested and you can come back to finish up the other stuff eventually. At least that's how I work when I'm not under a competition deadline. Keep going with the converted guy because it seems like that has you inspired. If you hit a wall, maybe wrap up the chaos chosen and put him on a simple base. It's always nice to be able to clear a project off your workbench for good. And, if its nothing you has any big plans for, don't waste time on a big fancy base. And definitely budget a lot of time for the Lock and Load piece. :)

I don't mind the color contrast on the spear, looks good to me!

Welcome to my world! I know exactly how this is, though my list is probably twice as long as yours. Been spending most of the morning finishing zombies, and keeping myself from starting more stuff before the table is clean. Working out so far.

What you need to do is this, ask yourself some questions: Does it bother you if stuff doesn't finish? Does it bother you if you paint 90% of the mini at your best, and 10% is done half-assed? If yes to both, what bothers you more?

If it bothers you, set aside time and sit with one or two projects until done! Get them off the table, then do the same with the next. If it only bothers you a little, wrap them in plastic and put them away, maybe one day you want to finish.

Not finishing can be a slippery slope, I've been there. Trying my best not to go there again, it is bad enough with all the stuff I haven't even started.

That said!

Lots of good work on the dwarf there, really hope we'll see this one finished. ;) I'm eager to see more of (and hear more about) the steampunky fellow on the monopedish contraption, I really like that look.

That's it exactly. I cannot accept a half finished mini. So I need to finish things up on Cannibal and his big base, put the Chaos Chosen on a simple base, and then at least finish the majority of the above mini. Lots of work to do.

Im glad you like the spear Bailey. It's growing on me a lot. I really like the cool blue green and how it turns to white. Will look good on his armor.
