It's cute when kids do it. Knights are above such things -_-

Ah yes. This is Demihuman we are talking about so he's got to be referring to the Bird.

Yay, Zab, a man of chivalry doth not useth the Bird. Tho the Flower Knight be no man...

@Bailey-I have seen this beautiful conversion. I only wish I can find something equally stunning. I need something, either through the base or a conversion, that sets mine apart.

@Gandalf-I did speak briefly to Tommie regarding his FK. His recipe consisted of OOP paints from GW, so I mixed my own from a variety of paints to get close AND have my own touch. Other than that, Tommie can be a bit vague in his responses, probably because my questions about recipe were annoying when he teaches so strongly that it's about light placement, not about colors used. I deeply valued all of his suggestions tho. He is an NMM God.

Thanks mate. I do have a lot of OOP GW paints. Could you let me know and I can make my selections and any replacements from there.

Of course. Tommie used Charrodon Granite and space wolf gray, black and white added to these mixes to darken and lighten. I am using about 3 parts VMC Olive Drab to one part GW Skavenblight Dinge. I added more and more Vallejo Hame Air Wolf Gray to this mix. My basecoat is about 3 parts of the OD and Skaven blend to one part wolf gray. To shade, add more and more black to the OD Skaven Blend. To highlight, add VMC Ivory to the OD+Skaven+wolf gray mid tone.

I mi have no idea how Mr Soule uses the colors he told me about, but I noticed that if I highlighted by adding just the wolf gray, it got too blue.

And there it is. Makes such a lovely deep green brown/dark gray steel with strong highlights. You must make the highlights small though and take up a lot of area with your darker shades.

Wow, what a great start to the NMM. I will follow very closely, and thanks for sharing. There is never enough similar WIPS ...

LOL I actually thought when seeing the pics of the knight that you painted those parts with a couple of layers of black metal from sc75... then posts later I read that you where using a mix for NMM oO'

Oh, and the spider webs look nice, hope they will work perfectly with acrylics ;)

Thats the highest compliment when one confuses NMM for true metallics. Thank you for that!

A small amount of progress this evening. Really, really enjoy painting the Flower Knight. A very calm and serene painting...

I feel compelled to share my results after every session. I am procrastinating on very important real life stuff right now in order to get my glaze on. Anyhow, steel is coming together quite nicely.

Looking good! So, while you're glazing (and because I want to make your job harder), have you thought about doing any reflected colors in the armor? I'm not sure what your plans are for the rest of the figure, but if you plan to do some bright colors on the sleeves then the sides of the armor should start to pick up some of those colors. I wouldn't go crazy with it, but a slight reflection would make it that much more convincing. Sproket has done some of that on his metals (dark eldar and others).

Indeed, the glare quality suggests that colors would be reflected. I will try this out, with your help :), and place then colored glazes after I have put the other colors on him for his clothing and the plant life. Tommie did a good job with the sword on his by making it SENMM without making the blade too mirror like. I hope to reflect the sky and earth in a similarly subtle manner. Just a hint of blue with some very strong white glare, etc. Also if you look at his sword you can see the vines strongly reflected. Perhaps this on the armor as well. Good advice Bailey tyvm

Some more progress. Moving right along and getting close to finishing the steel. Then on to all the little gold craftsmanship ornately festooning the armor. Loving this project...painting is fun again...
