Now that you mention it, I can belive it. I write learning material for my wife\'s school and we actually had a group of teachers say,\"Can we take the \'strange\' out of the stories. It\'s a negative word.We don\'t think we should take teach the children that word.\"

Not forgetting that blackboards had to be referred to as chalkboards until they were replaced by whiteboards which then had to be referred to as wipeboards.

But I think the most ridiculous thing was when brainstorming had to be referred to as mindstorming so as not to infer that non-contributors didn\'t have a brain ???

Sorry, this is insensitive. When I walk down the street and a dog barks at me, I dont feel the need to stop and take the time and effort to engage in a conversation. It has nothing to say to me that is relevant. Beyond not liking the noise I\'m really not going to try to find out what he\'s saying. Most of this PC stuff is like that. It\'s an annoying noise but I am learning to not give it any credence because so much of it has PROVEN itself to be empty.

\"Political correctness\" is a form of political censorship.
Political censorship is the product of a disfunctional society.
A disfunctional society is a society which is loosing it\'s sense of community.
A sense of community manifests as common sense.
Common sence is not a \"politically corrrect\" term.

Haven\'t these \"so called\" teachers read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury or 1984 by George Orwell, or heard of the German autodafé?

You can\'t stop a mind from thinking (unless of course the person is too lazy to use it). If the words aren\'t known, that won\'t stop people from making up knew ones to express their ideas. And with all the slang going around, I wonder what other words aren\'t being taught ;).

I hear that some schools here in the states are forbidding teachers from marking kids papers with a red pen...............red is like blood and it\'s scary................................we\'re doomed.

P
Oh, and Shawn- do be careful about the word Frosty- you may offend the people from norhtern climates for some unknown reason, or simply becuase you might make the children feel cold when you say that word, and we don\'t want the children do feel cold do welollollol
Someone needs to initilate the \"shake your head\" movement to help some folks get a grip.

Lactose being taken from the milk of any mammal.

The ones that bug me are the Vegan/animal rights activists who tell me how horrible I am for eating a living creature. Excuse me, wasn\'t that Broccoli and lettuce in your salad alive just before you chopped it up and ate it? Oh I see, your better than me because you didn\'t have to look into the eyes of the tree just before you plucked its reproductive organs (fruit) off and ate it. Your better becuase you cant hear the cries of the carrots your boiling because they have no mouths. Now I know animals vegetable and minerals are different classes. But these are the same people who protest logging compainies and claim trees have souls and feelings. You can\'t have it both ways.

So much of this PC stuff has to do with people being \'offended\'. ...............WHAT?? is that the end of the world?? Get on with your life!! If I focus on ALL the things I dont like, there wouldent be enough time in the world to count them all. It used to be that at an early age you just learned to ignore it and get on with your life. As a former \'druggie\' I can speak authoritatively.....Drug use gets you used to paying attention to EVERYTHING that is unpleasent and trying to eliminate it or it\'s effect. That is one of the hardest things to get shifted over to in sobriety is that sometimes things are just hard and you just gotta get on with life. PC is almost like a \'dope\' mindste. EVERYTHING should be perfect. and If it\'s not I\'m gonna throw a fit and look for someone to blame. It\'s frightening that such a mindset is now not only accepted but enforced. I fear where it will all end. PC..........facism with manners.

Once again brother- took the words right outta my mouth!
The PC\'ers crank up the dredgers and negative filters so they can get at the muck to find an excuse to bitch at the rest of the world. That is it in a nutshell, metaphorically speaking, but you said it succintly Shawn.

All life exists by stealing the energy of other living things.

Scientists at Baylor University recently discovered that plants have a chemical reaction to stress that can be classified as feeling pain. I believe they also picked up sounds being emitted from the plants as well - I will have to try and find the link.

Edit: here it is, let your vegetarian friends read this.

One of my favorite quotes, and I don\'t even know who it is from, is:
\"Common sense is not so common.\"

Can\'t put it mluch better than that!

What ever happened to the saying from early on in childhood: \"Sticks & stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me.\"

P
I think the PC\'er stole it because they were afraid that sharp objects- which can break your bones, were being left out. Also what if you don\'t have bones- like with all cartilage or an exoskeleton instead- those creatures may become offended as well.lollol

Back to the topic of vegans(my wife is vegetarian- so I know a bit on the subject, nuff said). What if humans agreed to slowly leach energy/resourses from our fellow plant or living critters- like a tapeworm. Those don\'t really hurt too, too, bad- depending on the type of parasite. Or better yet- how about comensural relationships- anyone name me one of those type of criiters that have that. Then maybe we could be free of critisism.:innocent:

Vegetarian is just an old indian word that means \"I can\'t hunt so well.\" lol

It has been proven that carnivores are more intelligent that vegetarians. I mean really, how much intelligence does it take to sneak up on a blade of grass.

I say that everyone who complains about \"Merry Christmas\" should be asked if the would be willing to work on Christmas at regular pay rate. I know several Jehovah\'s Witnesses (they don\'t celebrate any holidays) who were really put out by not getting \"Holiday pay.\" What a double standard.
