Alright, this spate of Political Correctness has just gone waaaaaay too friggin far if you ask me (and you didn\'t, but I\'m venting, so there .. nyaaah).
I can see how some things can be doctored up, put a better light upon, take other peoples consideration into thought but I think it has just gone over the top and this most recent malarky with Christmas has just put the top on for me.
First and foremost, and I don\'t mean to offend anyone here as it is my own views, but \'organized\' religion has absolutely no meaning for me and I think it was and continues to be a means to control the masses, keep the top peeps in as fat cats and as a way to policital power (as much as they say that its not). I just don\'t care for it, but I am more than willing to allow others their say on it as well as their views and I respect that - don\'t preach to me and I won\'t put a foot up yer ass. That being said, my wife and children are fairly religious, my wife a bit over the top if you ask me, but we\'ve learned to live with that aspect of our lives and my children go their own way without me interfering.
So, as you can see ... not a religious fellow. That was the lead up .. here is the meat of it.
Now we\'ve got everyone and their brother bitching and bellyaching about the fact that we\'re celebrating \'Christmas\' or say \'Merry Christmas\'. Simple, the masses are celebrating Christs birthday, even though I\'m cynical enough to point out that reallistically we\'re simply spending money and perpetuating a merchant holiday. But I digress.
So now we\'ve got people who are so uptight, or even better (sarcasm) are complete friggin foriegners, having fits over people celebrating christmas or saying merry x-mas because its not their religion, beliefs or views and have gone so far as to sue major retail stores for having X-mas parades, parties or putting up fucking decorated trees.
Hrmmm, now I\'m going off my brain here so I may get locations wrong but I\'ll back them up with internet searches if I have to but in Boston I think it was that last year they damn near poleaxed the major for saying Merry X-mas instead of Happy Holidays and he made an apology. Then there are the schools that aren\'t putting on a majority of songs or plays in theater because they deal with jesus, god, christ or ... bless me here ... Tiny Tim in Scrooge stands up at the end and says \'And may GOD BLESS every one of us\'. Oh, and the Macy\'s X-mas Parade is no longer that ... it is a HOLIDAY Parade.
C\'mon now ... what the hell is going on. Do I bitch and moan when Chanukah, Kwanzaa or any other fargin holidays that I\'m not familiar with or don\'t take part in? Nope ... not at all.
So my thing is, if you don\'t believe in X-mas or even feel good about it, don\'t participate, I don\'t think I\'m going to get heavy into Kwanzaa any time soon. It\'s a holiday, important to a good many people (though not for what it used to be I\'m sure) and simply put, if you don\'t like it, shut yer yap about it and don\'t celebrate it. No one is twisting your arm.
That being said ... I hope all of you that wish to celebrate it have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.
