BTW, how are your sister\'s skills progressing? I remember being impressed by her previous submissions;)

lol She\'s not my sister! She\'s my girlfriend!
She has already painted a 1000 pts eldar army, but she\'s has no free-time anymore :( Exams coming, and a \"memoire\"[kind of thesis but smaller] to write...
Sorry Alex. I don\'t know how I got that impression???. Hope the pressure lets up shortly:D
You know you are a lucky man, don\'t you:innocent:

After reading through the posts, there seems to be a good number of people that started but couldn\'t finish their minis. If we had a second competition, identical to the first, anyone who missed the deadline could just enter into the second one. -Pellimore
Perhaps next time, Beezlebrush, Cenobyte and I should collaborate in whipping you slackers into shape:D

read through the previous posts, the rules were laid out in the first few pages of the forum. I don\'t see any need to change the rules, they seemed to work just fine.

Any ideas for a new date?

We gave it a few months last time, so with all of the marines that everyone said they started, a few more months would do. Maybe by 2004 (January 1st)?

Just thinking aloud, tell me whatcha think,
Have fun!

I haven\'t stopped working on mine

...just postponed it a bit. I had real life deadlines to meet and now I\'m working on Chick Challenge, but was planning on finishing my marine over Thanksgiving and posting it. Maybe a Christmas deadline?

Yeh, Finn, I\'d anounce another if I were you, I\'d try to take part. Maybe you could ever so nicely ask CA to put a little anouncement on the front page, that might get more people. Also, I\'d consider making a new yopic for it, topics this big and old tend to scare people.

New topic? Naw, that would ruin all the fun. I can just imagine it now, many years from now, this same forum going strong with the same competition.

Realistically, I don\'t wanna change my favorites for a new forum ;)

Another thing, I like the new years date instead of christmas, its more fun. I can just imagine someone trying to put the finishing touches on their mini to submit it while they \"celebrate\" the new year (not to mention, the entries finished under the influence would be pretty funny, which might even bring up a whole new competition...\"drunken painting\"....lollollollollollollollollol)

FINISHED!

Okay, I know I\'m nearly a year late, but I finally got around to finishing my VA marine.
I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I liked it so much I\'m doing at least one more.

Hey!

I forgot about this, but vincegamer\'s post brought it up again, and better late then never, yeah?
This guy was actually painted up for the competition a looong time ago, but seeing as how I didn\'t have a cam, I couldn\'t enter, so he languished away on my dresser. I loved painting him so much that he spawned a whole squad of BA marines, although they aren\'t painted to quite his standard.

I know, I know, he\'s kinda plain and unoriginal, but I am too, so it just made us grow closer. In terms of actual technical stuff however, I tried to make the blends as smooth as possible. I painted him up in lotsa layers from blood red to fiery red, and then decided he was too bright, so I washed him with red gore, and rehighlighted everything quite thinly. All that backtracking made him come out pretty smooth. I\'ll post the whole squad on CMON soon.

Well I grew up in Oklahoma so I\'m of a mixed mind.
I did mention I was working on another one. Expect to see maroon and gold....

Yeah, I\'ve had him around for awhile, so I GW \"matted\" him ie. glossed him for safety. I tried cutting down on the gloss by turning up the exposure and not subjecting him to the direct glare of lights, but it didn\'t really work.:)

Frankly I like the gloss. The spot on the right shoulder is snazzy. Then again, my vision of space marine armor is that it has a baked-on enamel finish like a car so they polish it up to a mirror finish.

Another one

Yes, I know I\'m slow, but I finally have another of these photographed and up. If anyone has any of these marines that came in the paint set (and possibly a boxed version of the game) that come in 3 pieces (body, backpack, hands/gun) I could really use more to continue my evil plans.
Any way, check him out here:

Nice one Nelson and Vince!

Great idea Vince and I like your BA Owen as I was a bit of a BA fan myself...

there\'s a whole treasure trove....

if stuff is \'slow\' on the main forums page, its always fun to go digging in the forum archives....

\"Thar\'s Gold in them thar Posts!\"

@Vince....great job on the Redskin. It is ironic that I noticed it just as I was watching the Cowboys v. Redskins on Monday Night Football....lol
